Over the past few years, we’ve become huge fans of our Air Fryer. These little machines are incredibly handy, can usually be tucked away neatly in a kitchen cabinet, and are just perfect for quick and easy after-work meals, like these Air Fryer Gnocchi with Tomato, Spinach & Cheese. No one wants to spend more time than necessary preparing dinner after work, right?! Well, at least that’s how it is for us. And that’s why Air Fryer meals are perfect here.

For many people, the first thing they try in an Air Fryer is probably French fries. That’s what these machines are known for, and for many, it’s also a reason to buy one. French fries, potato wedges, and the like turn out great in an Air Fryer – and all without adding extra oil. I’d say that’s another important factor in the buying decision. What about you? What influenced your decision to buy one?
Back in the day (over 10 years ago), the first thing we put in our machine was French fries, too. The little recipe booklet included in the box of the machine – I wouldn’t call it a cookbook, since it really only had a handful of recipes – didn’t offer much, to be honest. French fries, chicken wings, meatballs, and a few other things along those lines. Looking at this you could get the impression that Air Fryers were designed for party food…

Casserole dishes and the like weren’t really on the radar back then. I think these types of dishes only started appearing once food bloggers began exploring the machines and experimenting with them. Especially in the last five years or so, these little machines have become incredibly popular, and suitable recipes are now popping up on food blogs all over the world.
We also have a little Air Fryer category here on the blog. We don’t quite have enough recipes for a full cookbook yet, but in terms of variety, our selection is already broader than the recipes that came with our first Air Fryer. With a colorful mix from meatballs to cheesecake, there’s plenty to choose from. And the selection keeps growing…

Air Fryers are supposed to make meal prep easier – at least that’s how many (if not all) manufacturers advertise them. With that in mind, this recipe was developed. It doesn’t require any complicated ingredients, and the dish is quick and easy to make in an Air Fryer. You basically just toss everything into the Air Fryer, let the little machine do its thing, and give the gnocchi a stir every now and then. That’s basically all there is to it. The result is a delicious casserole dish with gnocchi, veggies, and plenty of cheese.
Of course, you could also prepare this dish on the stovetop in a pot. The advantage of the Air Fryer, however, is that the ingredients in the Air Fryer are both cooked and roasted at the same time. A few roasting flavors from melted cheese and the like never hurt. To achieve a similar result using conventional stovetop cooking, you’d probably have to finish it off with a round of roasting everything in the oven afterward.
Anyway. We truly enjoy using our Air Fryer – whether it’s just to quickly toast a sandwich or to prepare entire meals. If you liked these gnocchi, you’re sure to enjoy our Air Fryer Käsespätzle aka. German Cheese Noodles as well. Here, too, we use one of those small oven cheese rounds instead of classic grated cheese, which makes the dish especially delicious.
If you’d like to try something entirely different in the Air Fryer, you should definitely check out our Air Fryer Cheesecake. It’s a small, delicate cheesecake with a cookie crust that’s every bit as good as a classic cheesecake from the oven. If you only have a few people to feed this cheesecake is the perfect choice. Because it is quite small. It has to fit into a small Air Fryer basket.
