I don’t know how your experience is with that, but I have a lot of dishes I connect with my childhood – for example, this Zurich-style Beef & Mushroom Ragout aka. Zürcher Geschnetzeltes. My mom often made it at home when I was a kid because it is really delicious and quite easy to prepare. Every time I cook it, I have a little “flashback” to my childhood ;P

It seems spring showed only up for a few days here in Germany and then winter (or whatever you want to call this nasty weather) took over again. I don’t know if starting to eat healthy for the perfect “beach bum” is already necessary – summer seems sooooo far away right now… maybe we can go back to big bowls of carb with a creamy sauce and maybe some meatballs? Noo… it is time to do something good for your body :P Well… or at least let’s give it a try. This delicious Quinoa Bowl with Chicken and Hummus is probably good for you in case you want to achieve that flawless beach body… unless you eat this like I do… two servings count as one because it is soooo healthy (and delicious) ;P

If you’ve been on any of the many social media platforms these days, you will probably stumble over baked feta with tomatoes and pasta. It’s the “hot sh*t” right now ;P It started on TikTok and spread like a disease all over the internet. This combination is actually nothing new, but somehow it turned into a trend. Today I am showing you something with feta, tomatoes, and pasta… just different. One of our favorite casserole dishes: Greek Baked Orzo with Feta Cheese! So good!
Here in Germany, it is common to have big markets almost all year round with booths for shopping and food. Every little event or holiday can be “used” to open up one of these markets in popular spots throughout a city. Christmas markets are only the tip of the iceberg here, but probably the most known markets. Anyway. On almost all of these markets, you have those food booths with typical dishes – bratwurst, buletten (the German version of burgers) and stuff like that. One of my favorite dishes from these markets is definitely fried mushrooms in a creamy sauce with loads of garlic. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic and no markets are open, I decided to treat myself to a big pan of these delicious mushrooms (and some fried potatoes).

It is still cold and nasty outside. Time to stay in and cook a nice stew to keep yourself warm. This lately I am cooking and baking a lot of my favorite childhood recipes. Dishes that are popular in the area I am coming from – like this (Sour) Lentil Stew with Sausages. A dish I could eat all the time – not only on cold days in winter or fall ;)
I am soooo sick of winter right now! The wet and cold weather is getting into my bones I think – and with these metusalem-old bones, you have to be careful. Also… no sun in Berlin. It is hidden behind clouds for weeks already. That is literally screaming for some “comfort food”! Something to make you fat and happy. One of my favorite dishes from home in this category is definitely “Schupfnudeln mit Sauerkraut” aka. Potato Noodles with Sauerkraut. Sounds weird for you? Well… ;P
Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
