This is a sweet and tasty snack that everyone knows from the Christmas market – Roasted (Candied) Almonds are very popular here in Germany. A little bag of these almonds can be quite expensive at the Christmas market, though. Well, why not make them from scratch at home? It’s an easy task and the result is equally delicious. No need to spend your hard-earned money on a Christmas market ;P
I’m a big fan of cookies – everyone around me knows that by now. Today, I have a new recipe for something that could be described as »cookie adjacent«. They belong somehow in the cookie world, but they’re not cookies: Mini M&M’s Cookie Cups with Spelt Flakes. Delicious little bites with healthy spelt flakes, peanut butter, and chocolate. The perfect snack when craving something sweet and slightly salty at the same time ;P
I bet you’ve heard about Buffalo Wings, right?! These (sometimes) quite spicy chicken wings are very popular in the US. They made it to Germany as well and are loved by many, even though buffalo wing sauce is still hard to find in German supermarkets. If you want to make this meat-free alternative here, my delicious Buffalo Cauliflower with Ranch Dip, you will probably have to ask the internet for help to find hot sauce and order the sauce online. Or, hopefully, you have a supermarket round the corner that has a corner with American products ;P
We love to bring home a few souvenirs from our holidays so we can remember the wonderful time we had in a faraway country. In my case, those memories are often somehow linked to food. That’s why we tend to bring home recipes for delicious dishes instead of little trinkets – for example, the recipe for these amazing Italian Arancini with Ragù. A reminder of a few lovely days in Sicily ;)
In the US, you can find Tater Tots in a lot of buffets – they are very popular. Doesn’t matter if it’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are great along with your scrambled eggs and bacon in the morning, or as a side with a meatloaf and gravy in the evening. Or as a snack whenever you are in the mood ;P
Small but mighty – that’s what my grandma used to say to me. I don’t know what she meant by that, because I was neither small nor mighty. Maybe a bit overweight ;P Well… this saying might apply to these delicious Chocolate Chip Spelt Cookies with Mini M&M’s. Small cookies, big impact. Anyone who’s able grab one of these little cookies will certainly be able to confirm this…
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
