I don’t know about you, but here in Germany, bowls in every possible version took over the lunch game a few years ago. It feels like pretty much every lunch spot is now selling bowls – usually a lot of salad-only bowls, but sometimes something like these Hummus Bowls with Salad & Kofta. These bowls also include salad, of course, but the rest is a bit more substantial ;P
When you can finally call it a day after a long day at work, very few people are keen to spend another hour (or more) in the kitchen to prepare dinner. That’s probably why delivery services are always busy during the week. However, if you can pull yourself together to work another 20 minutes in the kitchen, you don’t need a delivery service. July 2023 has been the hottest month in (recorded) history. When it’s hot outside we tend to go for lighter and healthier »summer dishes«. A lot of salad, veggies, fuits, and rather smaller snacks instead of heavy and hearty dishes with loads of carbs and/or fat. That stuff is perfect for winter when you need the extra energy ;P We love to make these Vegan Summer Rolls with Crispy Tofu in summer. Super easy to prepare and with the extremely delicious peanut dipping sauce just terrific! Really! You have to try it! Unless you are allergic to peanuts… then you might want to go for a sweet’n’sour dipping sauce instead ;P
I am a big fan of vegetarian and vegan cuisine. We eat veggies and salad basically every day of the week. However, there is one »meaty« thing/dish I love a lot and can’t resist when in front of me: meatballs! I don’t know why, but if they are served somewhere, I’m the first to grab one. Even if I have to push other people to the side ;P That’s why we have Meatballs with Parmesan & Arugula Risoni on a regular basis. They are sooo delicious! And quite easy and uncomplicated to prepare I may add. In a little more than 30 minutes you will get this dish on your table. Quicker than most delivery services ;P
When the temperatures go down, the time has come for delicious soups and stews. They are made for colder days. In summer, I try to avoid eating hot soups/stews because they make me sweat. In fall and winter, they are perfect. They warm you from the inside and if you fall into a “food coma” nobody cares. You can just lie down on the sofa and relax ;P
Some of you out there probably have the same problem: one of the family does not like to eat fish and as a result, you are cooking fish only once every century ;P Well… that’s what is happening here. I love eating and cooking fishy dishes but I always have to make them for myself. Nobody else here would eat it. Even these delicious Salmon Bowls with Durum Wheat… only for me! In this case, I don’t mind. They are so easy to make and can be done for one person only quite quickly.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
