I lived for some time in the US when I was (a bit) younger and had the chance to celebrate Christmas over there couple times. As many probably know, Christmas Season starts pretty early in the stores, so you can buy all the stuff you need weeks in advance – if not even months ;) Same thing happens here in Germany now – but that is not the topic :)

As soon as the Christmas Season started in the stores, they started selling eggnog. Something many many people don’t like at all I think – every time I told somebody I bought one of that big plastic containers with eggnog, they were looking at me as if I was coming from a different solar system to destroy planet earth. Really ;)

But who cares, right? I like it. I also like the german equivalent – Eierlikör. But that is also something you should not tell people. You will get weird faces. Believe me. Anyways – eggnog is not available here in Germany, so I had to make it myself. It is easy (did not know that). You just have to be careful to use really fresh eggs since you are using them raw and not cooked. But that should be easy :)

I have also a short video to show you how it’s done – give me a thumb up on Youtube if you like it :)

    Happy eggnog time!

    1. In the bowl of a food processor beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the milk, heavy cream, bourbon and nutmeg and stir utnil all is well combined.

    2. In a bowl beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Whisk the egg whites into the egg-milk-mix. Chill and serve.

Sounds absolutely delish and brings back precious memories of numerous Christmases spent in the U.S.

        Marc

Hi, my name is Marc. I’m a graphic designer.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake – for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers – and it seems they like it most of the time. ;)
