I am a huge fan of Eierlikör… that delicious yellow liquor made with rum and eggs. It is not that common outside of Germany and its neighboring countries I think. The U.S. has something that could be considered “similar” but it is actually not – eggnog ;) Even though Eierlikör and eggnog are from two different worlds, you can use both in the same way in bakes. Because I like it so much, I made a little list with my favorite recipes.
Eierlikör has kind of a bad reputation – many think it’s an “old ladies liquor” but I really love it. Not necessarily drinking it but in bakes, it is really nice. No matter if you use it in a cake, a yeast bake or cookies – it gives everything a nice flavor and often improves the texture of the bakes. So if you like the flavor of Eierlikör/eggnog, you might want to bake a look at the list I put together ;)
The base for a bake with Eierlikör is of course… Eierlikör! You can buy it in the store ooooor you can make it at home. It is not that complicated to do and the homemade version is always better than the store-bought. At least I think so! If you got time. There is not always time to make it so I am not mad with you if you buy it. If you are in an area where they don’t sell it, I guess you have only one option :P
If you like the flavor of Eierlikör and prefer quick and easy bakes, you should take a look at this Eierlikör Bundt Cake. There is not much “baking-know-how” needed. The recipe is so easy – everyone can do it! This one here has been tested multiple times and turned out really nice every time. No excuses not to bake it ;P
3. Eierlikör Chocolate Layer Cake
If you don’t mind to spend a bit more time in the kitchen for Easter, I can recommend this Eierlikör Chocolate Layer Cake. It takes some time to finish this one, but it’s actually not overly complicated. The result is delicious – the Eierlikör is in the cakes and there is also some rum involved. Just to make sure you can taste some booze :P
4. Eierlikör (Eggnog) Snickerdoodles
Everybody loves Snickerdoodles, right? Normally you would make them just with cinnamon, but what if you change the recipe a bit and add some Eierlikör or eggnog? It gets so much better! Ok – after adding the alcohol they turn into adults-only cookies, but hey… we are allowed to have some fun too, right? ;)
5. Eierlikör (Eggnog) Crumb Cake
This Eierlikör (Eggnog) Crumb Cake is a typical tea cake – flavorful and delicious! It is actually a cake I made the first time for Christmas, but since Eierlikör is also something that is served on Easter, I thought I should include this one here in the list. It will beat every carrot cake out there – I promise!
6. Cinnamon Roll Bread with Eierlikör
When thinking of Easter one thing always comes to my mind besides Eierlikör: yeast bakes! A must-have for a nice Easter breakfast or brunch. Did you know that Eierlikör makes yeast bakes even better than they are already? Nice flavor and great texture if you use it in a bake like that Cinnamon Roll Bread (with Eierlikör).
If you are looking for a highlight on your Easter brunch table you should make these Eierlikör (Eggnog) Hi-Hat Cupcakes. They are bit of work to prepare but I am pretty sure everyone will love them. The moment you cut into them and the Eierlikör filling comes out… soo good! :D
8. Cinnamon Rolls with Eierlikör
You can use Eierlikör (eggnog) in basically every bake you can think of. It works really well in combination with cinnamon – so why not giving these Cinnamon Rolls with Eierlikör a chance? You will not be disappointed. The flavor and texture are great!
Cheesecakes are so good. I love them and I think most of you feel the same ;) Why not make cheesecake even better by adding some liquor? Eierlikör works really well here and gives the cheesecake some nice extra flavor. The Easter bunny will be very happy if you serve this cheesecake.
