Happy Cookie Friday! How about a fresh batch of (more or less) typical American cookies? Really sweet, high in calories, and (unfortunately) also extremely delicious? If you’re nodding your head right now, I’ve got something for you. A big bowl of (Impossible) Chocolate Candy Cookies. Feel free to grab one or two while they are still available ;)
Some of you might wonder why they are called “Impossible” Chocolate Candy Cookies… well, there are two reasons. First, it seems almost impossible to add so many different chocolate candy bars into cookies. I basically took everything I could find in the supermarket and to my surprise, all of the chocolate bars fit into these cookies… and to be honest, the result is pretty darn delicious ;)
The second reason why these cookies are “impossible” is the fact that someone told me the other day that I basically ruined another bake with store-bought “industrial” sweets. This comment, of course, made me add even more of these sweets to my bakes. I like challenges ;P
I will continue to mess up my bakes and add whatever ingredients I want and what I think fits well. My mom always says “You can’t please everyone” – she is sooo right ;)
Well… back to the delicious cookies. They won’t get better if you let them lay around uneaten, so grab one immediately… or maybe bake them first, I guess ;P
Note: You don’t necessarily need all the “original” chocolate candy bars I listed in the recipe. I know there are many (cheaper) counterfeit candy bars out there and some candy bars are sold with different names in other countries, so use whatever you like. Just make sure there is not too much caramel involved. That can cause problems when it melts during the baking process.
One more thing. These cookies are sugar bombs due to all the stuff added. A cookie like that once in a while is absolutely fine, but don’t eat too many of them. You better find someone to share these cookies. I do not recommend eating them all on your own ;P
INGREDIENTS / ZUTATEN
1/2 cup (120g) butter, melted
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups (180g) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
7 oz. (200g) mini chocolate candy bars (e.g. Snickers, Mounds, Milky Way, Twix) and Oreos
120g Butter, geschmolzen und handwarm
100g Zucker
50g brauner Zucker
1 Ei (L)
1 TL Vanille Extrakt
180g Mehl (Type 550)
1/2 TL Natron
1/2 TL Salz
200g Mini Snickers, Bounty, Mars, Twix, Oreos, gehackt
DIRECTIONS / ZUBEREITUNG
2. Add both sugars and the melted butter to a large bowl and mix until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix well. Mix the flour with baking soda, and salt and add to the bowl – mix until just combined. Add about 3/4 of the chopped chocolate candy bars and cookies and fold in. Cover the dough and place it in the fridge for about 1 hour.
3. Preheat the oven to 360°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with baking parchment. Use a cookie scoop or two tablespoons and place dough portions with enough space in between on the baking sheet. Press some of the remaining chopped chocolate candy bars and cookies into the dough portions and bake for about 11 minutes. The edges of the cookies should be firm but the centers should still be a bit soft. Take out of the oven and let cool down on the baking sheet for some time. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool down completely. Repeat with the remaining dough.
