At the end of every year, it is customary for many people to take a look back at the past year… so why not do it here as well? Maybe it will become a tradition? Let’s see. In case you are interested – here are the 15 Most Popular Recipes of 2024. A small list of recipes that were visited/clicked the most here on the blog over a 12-month period. Let’s go! ;)
I’m actually a big fan of statistics and stuff like that. Numbers, yay! ;P If you take a look at the statistics of a website, you can quickly see which one has been visited/clicked the most over the course of a period of time. But why is that the case? Does a recipe have so many views because people simply like it and are coming back… or did a recipe possibly become viral and got all the views/clicks in one day? Well, luckily you can see that too in statistics. ;P
I looked into my statistics for 2024 and picked out the recipes that had the most visitors within the last 12 months. I am happy to explain which of them are simply classics and which are perhaps one-hit wonders. ;)
1. The Best Bolognese Sauce in the World
The recipe for my Bolognese Sauce has been the number one on the best of the best list for several years now. It’s safe to assume that many people like the recipe and agree with my claim that this Bolognese is »the best in the world«. Or maybe it’s good SEO. Who knows?! A cooking recipe at position number one… well. I let you decide. ;P
2. The Invisible Apple Cake
My recipe for the Invisible Apple Cake aka. Gateau Invisible aux Pommes is one of the older recipes here on that list and has always been in the TOP 5. You can probably say it has a few fans. ;)
3. German Eierlikör Custard Streusel Cake
My Eierlikör Custard Streusel Cake is a new addition to the blog and this list – it made its way onto the blog in March 2024. This cake definitely went viral for a short time, because most of the views happened around Easter, when the recipe was published on the blog. ;P I hope it’s not a one-hit wonder and will be visited again next Easter…
4. Artisan Bread (Mein Schiff)
The recipe for my Artisan Bread is actually a recipe I took home from a cruise ship in 2019. The pastry chef there gave me the recipe for their most popular bread so I could bake it at home. I had to adjust it quite a bit, but it was an instant hit on the blog. Perhaps other cruise ship guest are looking for a homemade version and end up on my blog. ;)
5. Quarkbällchen aka. Quark Balls
My Quarkbällchen recipe is not brand new, but it’s also not that old either. The recipe is from 2023 and has been clicked quit a lot since then. I guess people are always looking for this snack as soon as the Christmas market season starts. ;P
6. Slow Braised Mushrooms, White Beans & Leek Stew
This Stew with Mushrooms, you make in the oven, has been a popular recipe since it was published on the blog in 2022. It’s normally always in the TOP3 – this year it’s a bit further down in the list. Well…
7. Focaccia with Tomatoes, Garlic & Thyme
To be honest, I’m a little surprised by the ranking of this recipe here for my Focaccia with Tomatoes, Garlic & Thyme. Whenever I post the pictures and recipe on my social media channels, it does not get a lot of attention or likes. I always thought the people do not like the blue background I use for the pictures… but somehow it ended up in the TOP 10. What a surprise! ;)
8. Classic Ratatouille
Well… this recipe for my Classic Ratatouille and the recipe for my Pizza Sauce are both regularly on the top of this list until June or July of each year. I guess because summer is the season for the ingredients used. When summer is over, the ranking changes and these two recipes always drop in the list, surpassed by other recipes. ;P
9. Swiss Carrot Cake aka. Rüblikuchen
My Swiss Carrot Cake has been around for a few years. Definitely one of my favorite recipes to bake, and it absolutely deserves to be in the TOP 10! You should bake and try this cake at least once in your life! It’s delicious all year round, and not only suitable for Easter!
10. Creamy Miso Ramen with Chicken Katsu
My Creamy Miso Ramen with Chicken Katsu is the final candidate of the TOP 10. A recipe that I did not have on my radar for these statistics! ;P This ramen recipe is one of the recipes I thought would not be very popular, because it’s not a baked good and a bit unusual for my blog. But apparently many people wanted to know how to bake such a simple ramen dish with chicken. Maybe I should post more recipes like that?! ;P
11. Baked Carrot Cake Cheesecake
While we’re at it, I might as well add a few more recipes to the list. ;P My Baked Carrot Cake Cheesecake from March 2024 ended up on 11th place. I was expecting a good ranking here, because the recipe is one of the TOP 3 most popular posts on my Instagram channel. ;P
12. Damson Plum Cake Tray Bake
My Damson Plum Cake Tray Bake is an absolute classic. The recipe has been published in 2016, making it the oldest recipe here on this list. It has always been a recipe with a lot of clicks… I kow why – it’s a great cake! ;P
13. Simple & Easy Air Fryer Meatballs
My Air Fryer Meatballs are my second recipe for an Air Fryer and have made it onto the list here as well. To my amazement. It seems that many people now have one of these machines at home and are looking for recipes. ;) Well… my Air Fryer Chicken Tenders are also very tasty as well as my Air Fryer Mutabbal aka. Baba Ganoush. If you got an Air Fryer at home, you should try all of them. ;P
14. Toffifee Mini Brownie Bites
I would have expected to see my Toffifee Mini Brownie Bites a little further up on the list. The recipe is quite old (it’s been on the blog since 2017), but always a hit when I post it on my socials. Maybe I just need to remind people more often for a better ranking… ;P
15. Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie)
The last recipe on this list today is my Greek Spinach Pie aka. Spanakopita. Another recipe I did not expect to rank this good. Not because I don’t like the recipe – it tastes delicious! The strudel never really »performs« well on social media. Again – I think it’s partly due to the blue background. It turns some people off, I have the feeling. ;P
3397. Spiced Cake Baked in a Glass Jar
Of course, I didn’t want to withhold the last place in the statistics (with less than 1000 visitors in 2024) from you either. Almost nobody liked to click my Spiced Cake Baked in a Glass Jar, even though it’s really delicious! However, I have to say that this is the English version of the recipe that performed so badly. You know that there are always two versions for (almost) every recipe, right? One in German and one in English. If you want to see one or the other, you can always change the language in the menu. The German version of the recipe can be found a few positions further up in the list. ;P
Well. The reality looks a little different on social media (Instagram). There you will find very different recipes in the top positions. Cheesecakes are definitely more liked over there. ;P What are your favorites?!
