Onion quiches are quite popular in Southern Germany and Alsace. We already have a few recipes for them on our blog. Normally, you would make a quiche or cake like that with a shortcrust pastry or some yeast dough – this one here is a bit different. The base for this Smashed Potato Crust Onion Quiche are potatoes. The name probably gave it a way already. ;P

Cookies exist in pretty much every culture. People know what’s good and have done so for centuries. ;P But cookies do not look the same everywhere or are baked with the same ingredients, of course. There are sometimes quite big differences from country to country, even when they are next to each other. These Hamantaschen are based in Jewish cuisine and are very different from what we consider here (in Germany) as cookies or biscuits – but they definitely belong in the cookie category. ;)
Chipotle is a well-known restaurant chain in the USA. However, anyone who wants to try the restaurant’s bowls, tacos, or burritos will have a hard time here in Germany – there are (currently) only two restaurants here, and both of them are in Frankfurt. ;) But that shouldn’t bother you/us too much. With this basic recipe for Chipotle-style Chicken, you have the foundation for many dishes you can get in those restaurants. So you can save yourself the trip to Frankfurt (or the US). Homemade is better anyway! ;P
When it gets colder outside, stews are always a good idea. A simple and easy Potato Brussels Sprouts & Sausage Stew bubbling on the stove is always very welcome in our house. Even if the Brussels sprouts aren’t everyone’s favorite veggie, we love the combination with potatoes and sausages. It’s the perfect comfort food for us!

Fall is the perfect time for baked goods that are a bit richer. Rich in sugar, fat, and calories. After all, you have to prepare for the colder season, right?! This Fudgy Brownie Chocolate Pie has more than enough of everything you need to get you through fall and winter. It also tastes exceptionally good… but that was probably to be expected, right?! ;P
Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer. I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;) Read more...
