What could be better than a big load of delicious cherries packed between two layers of crispy pastry with some ice cream or vanilla sauce on top? Not much, right? ;) A Classic Cherry Pie is hard to beat. One of the best treats you can serve in summer. An absolute rock star when it comes to pies!
Give me a colorful and delicious salad, and I am happy. There is nothing better in summer. Salads are healthy and normally not too complicated to prepare. The latter does not quite apply to this Summer Salad with Roasted Quinoa & Chickpeas, to be honest. Well, at least not fully. Compared to a simple tomato salad you have to do several steps more to get this salad on the table… but it’s definitely worth the extra work. Roasting the quinoa and chickpeas before adding to the salad makes a great difference ;)

There are so many delicious things you can make for dessert. The choice can be quite overwhelming, to be honest. If you are as indecisive as me sometimes, I recommend trying this simple Peaches ‘n’ Berries Summer Cobbler and serving it with some ice cream on top. It’s an extremely tasty dessert that can be prepared in no time at all and doesn’t require fancy ingredients. Most of them can be found in your kitchen cabinets I assume – with one small exception maybe ;)

July 2023 has been the hottest month in (recorded) history. When it’s hot outside we tend to go for lighter and healthier »summer dishes«. A lot of salad, veggies, fuits, and rather smaller snacks instead of heavy and hearty dishes with loads of carbs and/or fat. That stuff is perfect for winter when you need the extra energy ;P We love to make these Vegan Summer Rolls with Crispy Tofu in summer. Super easy to prepare and with the extremely delicious peanut dipping sauce just terrific! Really! You have to try it! Unless you are allergic to peanuts… then you might want to go for a sweet’n’sour dipping sauce instead ;P

Summer is the time for tomatoes – it’s quite obvious if you go to a Farmer’s market and see them everywhere ;) We have some tomato plants on our balcony that give us sweet and delicious fruits – unfortunately, not enough at once to make a whole Colorful Tomato Salad (with Feta) like this one here. But we can use at least some of them if we want to make a salad… the rest has to come from a store or market. That’s fine. We would not be able to grow a large variety of tomatoes anyway. If we only had a garden. When I was a kid all the tomatoes could have come out of our garden because there was enough space to grow everything we wanted ;P Well… maybe again someday.

Preparing your dinner on a grill is a fun way to spend time outdoors in summer – whether it’s in the backyard or in a public park. Besides the meat and sausages you throw on the grill you need other stuff as well, of course. Bread, smaller snacks, and definitely salad. Preparing a BBQ can be quite time-consuming – luckily getting a salad like this Mediterranean Tortellini Pasta Salad is an absolute breeze. It is ready in less than 30 minutes and can be done some time in advance.

Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer. I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;) Read more...
