Franzbrötchen are known throughout Germany, although they are actually a specialty from Northern Germany. Super tasty pastries I learned to love when I was living in Hamburg. For some time now, there is also delicious ice cream made with it… Franzbrötchen Ice Cream. A well-known German TV chef made this type of ice cream popular ;) You could call my version here a copycat… or simply an alternative if the other ice cream isn’t available in the supermarket ;P
If you got a garden and have planted zucchini once, you may be familiar with the problem that at some point in summer, it feels like all of your zucchini plants are packed with fruits at the same time. Enough to feed a whole soccer team ;P In cases like that, it’s good to have recipes at hand to use all those zucchini. Something like this delicious Zucchini Lime Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. A delicious Streuselkuchen aka. streusel coffee cake always gets everyone around the table. This German Cherry Streusel Cake is no different here. As soon as the first piece of that cake is topped with a bit of heavy cream, the cake fight begins ;) So the cake comes with a warning. There could be riots around the table…
I’m a big fan of scones. These little pastries are quick and easy to prepare and can be made with so many different ingredients – chocolate, nuts, berries… These Cherry Marzipan Scones are made with – you guessed it already – fresh cherries and marzipan :P An extremely tasty combination I like a lot… you should definitely try!
Unfortunately, not many recipes were passed down from one generation to the next in our family. Many in our family liked to bake, cook, and eat, but writing down recipes and sharing them with someone… not so much. I am probably the first one to do this properly ;P However, one recipe has managed to be passed on: Grandma’s Pasta Salad (with Mayonnaise). A classic pasta salad that’s a standard for our BBQ gatherings ;)
Once you started dipping, it’s hard to stop! Mutabbal aka. Baba Ganoush, as most people probably know this eggplant dip, is a traditional mezze dish of the Arabic cuisine. My version here is prepared using an Air Fryer, making this dish super easy. If you don’t have one of these appliances at home, you can still make the dip – a regular oven does the job just as good ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
