Classic Christmas cookies can sometimes get a little bit boring… when baking the same ones every year. It is getting harder and harder to ignore that Christmas is coming! Here in Germany the season “officially” starts with the availability of Spekulatius (speculoos) cookies and gingerbread in supermarkets – in late August. Bit early, I know ;P Now – in late November – I think it it is actually more appropriate to talk about Christmas cookies and bakes. Late summer seems a bit wrong to me. Well – since it’s a perfect time now, my recipes will start getting more “Christmassy” in the upcoming weeks. Starting with this really delicious Gingerbread Chocolate Bundt Cake Christmas Wreath. The 1st of Advent is coming up soon, so we all have to get ready for the real Christmas madness to start ;P
I was just about to write “Happy Halloween”, but that’s been over for a while now… Happy Advent then! ;) This blog will serve you a lot of Christmas cookies until Christmas – to prevent you from getting a sugar shock you don’t have to eat today’s cookies. You can use this Gingerbread Cookie Wreath for Christmas decorations instead! How about that? Baking your decorations instead of buying it? ;)

Happy Halloween! I wished you would be frightened looking at my Halloween Haunted Gingerbread House, but I think it is not really frightening or scary ;) It looks kind of cute – all I would need are some little people around it to make it more real looking… well. In case you want to bake this house for Halloween – you might want to think a bit more into the future and plan this one for next year. It takes a while and making this for tomorrow would be quite challenging… ;)

It took a bit longer this time, so I had some time to listen to Christmas music and had one or maybe two mulled wines while working… exactly what you should do, when baking and decorating Gingerbread Christmas Cookies ;P
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
