For the past years I have been a bit more selective when it comes to sweets. If possible, I get me some sugar-free chocolate or at least very little sugar. Luckily, there is a lot available now – that’s usually chocolate with a higher percentage of cocoa… stuff many would describe as bitter ;P You have to be careful what you eat if you got diabetes. That does not mean I don’t like regular chocolate – I’m just eating much less of it or use it for baking instead. Like these Kinder Chocolate Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. If you use chocolate in a bake it’s not chocolate anymore… it’s an ingredient ;P
I know – you can talk yourself into pretty much anything if you want to! Of course, it’s still chocolate and still a lot of sugar… but you don’t have to starve yourself to death. If you eat less and more thoughtful you’re not getting in trouble. The dosage makes the poison, right? A little piece of chocolate every now and then or one of these cookies never killed anyone. At least I think so ;)
Seriously – you don’t have to give up everything nice in life. But you shouldn’t overdo it either. If you have to/want to keep an eye on what you eat, you can still eat one of these cookies. One cookie and not five at a time ;) Of course, this is just a recommendation. Everyone should know for themselves what they can tolerate and what they need. For me, it has to be a little less sugar in comparison to others ;P
If you’re thinking »Ah, there are oats in the cookies as well – they’re probably healthy!«, you should delete this thought from your brain immediately. No. The oats are great for the texture, but thanks to sugar, butter, and chocolate, the benefits of rolled oats no longer play a major role here. The oats are no excuse to turn into a Cookie Monster eating the whole batch. Nope ;P
So… maybe we’ll keep that in mind now, but enjoy the cookies anyway. If you like Kinder chocolate, you’ll definitely enjoy these cookies too. The cookies smell and taste just like the popular chocolate brand and are simply delicious. The cookies are nice and crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside when fresh from the oven. I love them fresh out of the oven (slightly cooled, of course). So good!
There are many more cookies here on the blog that have been »refined« with popular chocolate bars and other candy. One of the best cookie recipe I can think of is my recipe for my delicious Toblerone Crunchy Almond Cookies. So good. If you are an extreme chocoholic you might want to try my »Impossible Chocolate Candy Bar Cookies«. Chocolate overload for sure ;P
INGREDIENTS / ZUTATEN
(about 16 cookies)
1/2 cup (120g) butter, melted & lukewarm
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
6.7 oz. (190g) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. milk
3.5 oz. (100g) Kinder Chocolate bars*,
2.8 oz. (80g) semi-sweet chocolate chips*
1.8 oz. (50g) rolled oats
(etwa 16 Cookies)
120g Butter, geschmolzen & abgekühlt
100g Zucker
50g brauner Zucker
1 Ei (L)
1 TL Vanille Extrakt
190g Mehl (Type 550)
1/2 TL Backpulver
1/2 TL Salz
2 EL Milch
100g Kinder Schokolade*, gehackt
80g Schokoladendrops* (Zartbitter)
50g Haferflocken (Feinblatt)
DIRECTIONS / ZUBEREITUNG
1. Melt the butter and let cool down a bit. Roughly chop the Kinder chocolate and set aside.
2. Add both sugars and the melted butter to a large bowl and mix for 2-3 minutes until very light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix well. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add together with the milk to the large bowl and mix until just combined. Next, add the chopped Kinder chocolate, chocolate chips, and rolled oats and fold in. Place the dough in the fridge for about 2 hours.
3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with baking parchment. Use a cookie scoop* (or two tablespoons) and place dough portions with some space in between on the prepared baking sheet – the cookies spread a bit. Press some additional chopped Kinder chocolate into the dough (optional). Bake the cookies for about 12 minutes – the edges should be firm with a bit of color and the centers should still be a bit soft. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for some time, then transfer to a wire rack and let cool down completely. Repeat with the remaining dough and bake more cookies.
