Cupcakes are great in my opinion. They are relatively small, handy and most of the time delicious. If you add strawberries to the cupcake game it gets even better ;) These (simple) Very Strawberry Cupcakes are packed with strawberries – they have a strawberry filling, the buttercream has strawberries in it and they are also decorated with strawberries. If you like these little red fellas, these cupcakes might be perfect for you! Strawberry Overload in the best way possible ;)
This is going to be the last bake with rhubarb for this year – the season is over. Can you see the tears running down my face? Probably not since you are staring at a computer screen :P But there are… well at least one tiny one in the corner of my eye :.(
It is strawberry season right now. Yay! And Cookie Friday! Double Yay!
I know you can get strawberries all year round almost everywhere – but to be honest – I never buy them when they are not in season. First of all, I think it is a good thing when fruits and vegetables are only available for a certain period of time every year. You wait for the weeks they are available and you are actually much happier when you can have it. Do you know what I mean? The months of the year without rhubarb for example are torture, but the moment you see the first stalks on the farmers market – priceless! ;)
The strawberry season is over – if you make your own strawberry jam, you can have those delicious berries all year long.
Making jam is easier than most people think. Fresh fruits in small pieces, jam sugar, some lemon juice and some mason jars and you are almost done. ;) The only thing you have to be careful with is the amount of fruits/liquid you’re using – here you have to be precise whatever the jam sugar instruction says. If you use too much liquid, the jam will not get thick enough and the result will be more like a sauce. ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
