If you ask someone in Germany about the origin of lentil stews you will sometimes get the answer »it’s probably something that is coming from here«. It’s a dish everybody knows from their grandparents, so it must be something we invented ;P But that is not the case at all. Of course! ;) Dishes like this one here have been around since the dawn of time. Well, almost. Lentils have been cultivated and used for thousands of years. This version of a classic lentil stew here is called Lentejas con Chorizo – means »Lentils with Chorizo«. That was easy, right? ;P
The name seem a bit weird but this »Dirty« Oreo Poke Cake is absolutely delicious! If you’re into chocolate cakes, Oreos and custard this will definitely be one you’re gonna like. Though this cake might not win beauty contests, it will definitely win with great flavors and deliciousness ;P It’s always the »inner values« that count. Grandma always told that everyone – and she was right. Well, this cake is definitely worth trying and really easy to prepare (even though the recipe looks quite extensive).
We have a children’s story here in Germany called »Suppenkasper« from Heinrich Hoffmann – actually a tragic story about a boy that refuses to eat his soup and dies… classic uplifting German story for toddlers ;P Anyway. If you do not like soup you can be called »Suppenkasper« here in Germany but sometimes as well if you like it a lot. It’s a bit confusing, I know. This Cheesy Soup with Leek & Sausage is for all the »Suppenkasper« out there. The ones that like soup. Thick creamy soup with loads of stuff added ;)
Apples are great for baking all year round even though their peak season is actually in fall and winter when all other fruits are less available in Supermarkets. Apples are available fresh all year round even from local farmers because they can be stored for quite some time. This means this delicious Apple Crumble Custard Cake can be done anytime you feel like it. The combination of apples, streusels and vanilla custard is great – the recipe shows how you can make this cake with ease ;)
Give me a cupcake and I’m happy. I’m not sure why exactly they make me happy – maybe it’s the smaller size, the fact that everyone can get an individual cake and there is no need to share… or maybe just because there are so many delicious options to chose from ;P Well, these Salted Caramel Cupcakes are definitely in my »Top 10« of the best cupcakes in existence ;) I know that’s a bold statement but just try them – I am pretty sure you will agree with me as soon as you had one. And btw – these delicious little cakes are also vegan. Almost forgot to mention that.
Happy Cookie Friday! Once again. Today I got a cookie recipe that is from the other side of the globe (if you live in Germany like me). Anzac Cookies are popular cookies from Australia and New Zealand – and here in Germany pretty much unknown I guess. At least I’ve never seen them in any bakery or coffee shop around here. That doesn’t mean that the little fellas aren’t super tasty. I fell in love pretty much in an instant. Oats, coconut, and honey are a great combination! You should definitely give it a try ;)
Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
