When you talk about »Buchteln« here in Berlin, you often get strange looks. It’s just not a common name for this type of bake here – it’s more frequently used in the south of Germany. In English, you would probably call these Apple Pie Buchteln something like Apple Pie Sweet Rolls with Streusels, I assume. Whatever you want to call them – these fluffy rolls are super delicious and quite easy to prepare (if you like to work with yeast dough) ;)
There are so many delicious things you can make for dessert. The choice can be quite overwhelming, to be honest. If you are as indecisive as me sometimes, I recommend trying this simple Peaches ‘n’ Berries Summer Cobbler and serving it with some ice cream on top. It’s an extremely tasty dessert that can be prepared in no time at all and doesn’t require fancy ingredients. Most of them can be found in your kitchen cabinets I assume – with one small exception maybe ;)
Strawberries are in season in summer and can be found everywhere – in every supermarket, at every farmer’s market, and in my kitchen, of course! I prefer the ones from local farms in the area (we have quite a lot of strawberry farmers in the area) – they are always very fresh and delicious! If you got some of them at home yourself, plus some ladyfingers, mascarpone, and heavy cream you could theoretically make this delicious Summer Strawberry Tiramisu right away ;) It’s an absolute favorite here at home and really easy to prepare. And it looks good I think. That’s important too, right? ;P
Donuts are nice – you can’t deny that. Airy, fluffy, sweet, and greasy… the perfect combination for a sweet snack, right? If only making them at home could work without frying and those smells in the kitchen. For this reason, we don’t make delicious Boston Cream Donuts like these here not that often at home. Only for special occasions once in every blue moon. Or maybe I should get a proper deep-fryer you can seal off completely? ;)

I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
