Christmas and the Advent season are not perfect if there is no Christmas Stollen to nibble on. It’s a typical German thing. We don’t have the same Stollen every year – we like to switch it up sometimes. This year we will probably bake a simple Almond Marzipan Stollen again. Juicy, aromatic, and extremely tasty. A Christmas bake definitely worth trying and maybe a good option for those who hate raisins ;P
A coffee date without a coffee cake? Impossible, right?! When I meet with friends or family for a coffee I always need something to snack along with the coffee. It does not matter if we meet somewhere outside or at home – snacks are necessary. In a coffee shop, you can normally buy something. If I have someone over I feel obligated to serve something homemade. Not a problem with this Hazelnut & Almond Streusel Coffee Cake. So easy to prepare and really delicious! You guests will love it!
Most of you have probably been there… it’s Sunday and a friend or family member wants to come by for a coffee. What do you do? The bakery around the corner is closed, and you don’t have anything at home. Well… you can bake something, of course ;P Something quick and easy like this German Butter Cake with Streusels & Almonds. If you work quickly here you will be done in about 20 minutes and have a delicious cake on the table in less than an hour (due to the baking time, of course). Not bad, right? Better than a cup of coffee and some old stale cookies ;P
Not everyone has a lot of time for baking. I bake and take pictures of my bakes for a living but I can also appreciate when I only have to spend a short time in the kitchen to get something sweet. These Easy Peasy Almond Croissants are definitely something you can whip up in no time. If you got some softened butter already you only need 5 minutes to get the croissants into the oven. Then you have to wait for the oven to finish and you got yourself a delicious snack. So easy!
Gooseberries are always welcome guests in our home in the summer. They are just great – there is so much you can do with them. Jam, compote, cakes, and much more. They may not be everyone’s favorite berries, but they have a lot of fans in our family. That’s why we always like to bake with them when they are in season. A delicious cake, like this Ricotta Cake with Roasted Gooseberries, for example. A great sweet treat you can serve when friends or family are coming over for a coffee in the garden or on your balcony ;)
As soon as rhubarb is available at the farmer’s market in spring, the world is a little better again ;) I am a big rhubarb fan and look forward to this delicious veggie to come back in March/April of every year. There is so much you can do with these red-green stalks – for example, this delicious Rhubarb Frangipane Galette. Perfect for the first coffee party with family and friends in the warming spring sun ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
