“An apple strudel a day keeps the doctor away”, right?! Probably not. If you eat an Apple Strudel Cake like this one each day you are probably dead in no time… but it would be a happy death for sure ;P Just kidding! Happy Apple Pie Day! Yeah… not an actual holiday here in Germany, but still a good reason to celebrate ;) Where I come from (Southern Germany) late summer and autumn are the time to bake apple cakes and pies – Americans celebrate their favorite pastry featuring apples in May. I’m fine with that – every day is a good day for an apple pie. So today I got an absolute classic for you: a Good Old Apple Pie aka. American Apple Pie. Grab a plate and fork and we can get started…
Today is the “Day of the German Apple”. You did not know that? Well… probably not. Neither did I up until several weeks ago ;) To celebrate this special day I a serving you a delicious Apple Cheesecake with Almond Topping. Sounds good, right? It was a coincidence that this “holiday” is on this day and that I had some apples at home to make this great cheesecake for you. Really… ;)
Halloween is over – so what’s next? A bit too early for Christmas recipes, right? Let’s do something with some of the most popular fruits in autumn: apples! My blogger colleague Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte published a book with tons of apple recipes just recently – this Apple Sour Cream Cake is one of her recipes and one of my favorite recipes from the book. So good! :D
I got some invisible cake for you today. You can’t see it, right?! :P Just kidding. Even though the French name implies this cake is invisible: Gateau Invisible aus Pommes aka. The Invisible Apple Cake – it is absolutely not invisible. But you could say the apples within the cake are hard to spot since they are sliced so thinly… I guess that is the actual idea behind that name :P
Today I got the best of two worlds – apple pie meets cinnamon rolls. These two come together to create a super delicious Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie! Sounds good, right? This pie made it to our “all-time favorites list” immediately and will end up in our oven more often I think – maybe also in your oven (made by you of course and not me)?! ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
