Mermaid Cupcakes… finally that trend arrived on this blog ;P Couple years later than expected, but hey… you can’t do everything when everybody does it. Some things need time to develop.

Today’s cookies for Cookie Friday are quick and easy Sugar Cookies. I am saying this so often that it almost sounds like a prayer: you don’t need fancy cookies all the time – the simple ones are just as good! ;)
I know the name is a bit confusing… you might know this kind of cookies as “black and white cookies” but here in Germany we call them “Amerikaner”. We normally don’t decorate them in black and white, most of them are sold with only a white glaze… but they are actually the same ;) This mini version of the classic cookie is made with ricotta and has some sprinkles on top… just for fun ;)
Today’s recipe is a German classic – Donauwelle or also known as Snow White Cake. Have you heard of it or maybe made it already? I like it a lot, but opinions about are very different. Too old-school, lame… some of the critics ;) I don’t think it’s lame at all! Old-school maybe, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing…
The heat right now here in Berlin does not make me want to heat turn on the oven. Mainly because my flat is right under the roof and if it’s warm outside for more than two days, my kitchen turns into a Finnish sauna ;) I can’t stop making sweet stuff though I have to come up with alternative ways of “baking”. Well, actually “no-baking” cakes. This beauty with golden kiwi on top is a perfect example of a summer-ready no-bake fridge cake ;)
It’s Sunday and you probably have a bit more time for reading and baking. If you want to make this recipe, you definitely need a bit more time. Sorry for that ;) These Croissant Donuts require some waiting time, so be patient… but the reward will be delicious for sure! I mean – who does not like something sweet fried on his/her plate?! ;))
