Oh well – it seems I cannot stop baking this Easter Season… the Easter Egg Cookies I made last week should have been the last bake for my Easter Special, but then I found a recipe for this delicious Eierlikör Cake and had to bake it. And now these… ;)
OK – this is actually something I wanted to do for a long time – delicious macarons made with lots of eggs – pretty obvious bake for Easter, right?
Easter Egg Macarons with Lemon Buttercream and Lemon Curd | Bake to the roots
I already made eggnog for Christmas last year – I know that is something you can buy in stores – except here in Germany ;) So making something like that makes sense if you want it and can’t get it elsewhere.
The Eierlikör on the other hand is something you can shop here year round in every supermarket – we Germans have a long tradition on drinking that (or better said nice old ladies have a long tradition on drinking that). Anyways, you get it everywhere, so why make it? Well… here comes my standard answer: Because you will get something much better than the stuff you can buy in the store! That applies for many things actually. Sometimes it is cheaper to make it at home, sometimes it is a bit more work to do than just go to a supermarket and buy it – but in almost all cases the result you get at home is much better than the pre-made stuff and you always know 100% what’s in it – which you can’t be with store bought stuff. So here is my advice – make more things at home. It is easy – as easy as making this Eierlikör :)
Are you looking for a little gift for friends? Something you can bring if you are invited to a party? Well – make a cake in a jar and everybody will be impressed – everybody will think you are the queen or king of baking ;)
Kardamom Karotten Kuchen im Glas | Bake to the roots
Christmas stollen are an essential part of the Advent season here in Germany. Not everybody likes these sweet and heavy bakes though – but to be honest – you can’t please everybody ;) I love Christstollen a lot. So much I love to share it with others. And with these Christmas Stollen baked in Glass Jars, it is much easier to bring them as a gift to a Christmas party. An easy peasy homemade gift that beats every storebought bottle of mulled wine easily ;P
I lived for some time in the US when I was (a bit) younger and had the chance to celebrate Christmas over there couple times. As many probably know, Christmas Season starts pretty early in the stores, so you can buy all the stuff you need weeks in advance – if not even months ;) Same thing happens here in Germany now – but that is not the topic :)
Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer. I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;) Read more...
