Summer and strawberries belong together, like the beach and sunburn. I don’t like sunburn, but I love strawberries. They are a great snack on a hot summer day but also work great for any type of dessert – something like these little Strawberry Mascarpone Tartlets, for example. Fresh, creamy and super delicious! All you want for summer ;)
I am a big fan of everything rhubarb. I could use this veggie all the time for my bakes. Unfortunately, the season is far too short – it starts in April and ends on June 24 (Saint John’s Eve). Hardly enough time to bake everything you could bake ;P In case you want to bake this Easy Rhubarb Filo Tart, you’ll have to get your ingredients ready soon… the countdown is on!
Working more than necessary is something nobody wants to do, right? I love me some quick recipes that are easy to do. If there is an option to work less in the kitchen I will go for that ;P Pre-made dough from the supermarket is something that can come in handy here… Nobody got time to prepare puff pastry dough or phyllo dough. As summer gets into full swing, there are more and more fruits and veggies available at the local farmer’s market from local sources. If you’re lucky to have a garden, you don’t need a farmer’s market – with a reasonably green thumb, you can grow many things yourself. The veggies for this simple Ratatouille Tart are easy to grow in your own garden – even in Germany with our colder temperatures sometimes in summer ;) Maybe not right at the beginning of summer, but eventually everything is ready to harvest ;P
When summer starts you can find more and more berries from local sources on farmer’s markets. The shorter the way from the farm to the consumer the better, right? ;) Time to do something amazing with those fresh berries. The month is almost over – this means it’s time for another round of “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise” with Andrea from Zimkeks & Apfeltarte. The topic for today’s collab is “caramel and tart” and what can I say… this (nasty) little caramel, peanuts, and chocolate tart aka. Snickers Tart (without Snickers) is the delicious result I came up with ;P
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
