Special occasions need special cakes, right? A birthday without a cake would not be perfect, right? ;) How about a small Funfetti Birthday Cake like this one here? Whoever gets one of these will definitely be happy. I would be happy if someone gave me a cake like that. Unfortunately, I am the one that has to bake those cakes for others. Always ;P
»More is more, and less is a bore« – something Iris Apfel said once. I could not agree more looking at this cake here ;) I am pretty sure she would like this Retro Buttercream Layer Cake here. It looks like it’s from the past, decorated so much it almost tips over. If you look at old cook books you will definitely find stuff like that – with even more decorations. There is actually a lot of empty space on this cake… should I have used more buttercream? ;P
In France, they got a seemingly endless supply of delicious sweet treats it seems. French Pâtisserie is an important part of French culture. One of my favorite sweet treats I am, unfortunately, not making often enough, is Paris Brest. Rings of choux pastry with a nutty, caramel cream filling. Soooo extremely (and dangerously) delicious! There’s no other way to say it… ;)
I am a big fan of anything sweet and salty combined. For example, peanut butter and jelly or salted caramel. With stuff like that you always make me happy. That’s why I got a delicious Salted Caramel Cake today. Simple cake layers with caramel buttercream in between and loads of sweet and salty stuff on top. Can you resist? ;P

Mother’s Day is coming up soon again – as a good son or daughter you want to make this day special for your mom. Maybe even make her happy for once ;P A gift mothers often get on this day is flowers. I prefer baking something, to be honest. Something like this Pink (Red Velvet) Mother’s Day Cake. I did not make this one here for my mom (she lives far away), but I am pretty sure she would have liked it… even though it’s pink ;P
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
