Using preserved lemons is not particularly common in German cuisine. Whenever a chef wants to experiment a little, they might use Preserved Lemons aka. Salt Lemons, but they are not commonly used in our part of the world. In Morocco and some other national cuisines, however, the situation is quite different… ;)

Whenever we have guests at home, there has to be food on the table. It does not have to be much – something simple and delicious to share is fine in most cases. Something like these Baked Eggplants with Hummus & Matbucha, for example. Place a few of them on the table and everyone can help themselves. They are so good! Everyone will ask for the recipe, for sure! ;P

In summer, we eat salad very often. Almost every evening, to be honest. It’s simply the best dinner when the temperatures are a bit more challenging… and it tends to get quite warm in the attic where we live. Pasta salad may not necessarily be the best option here, but this Caesar Chicken Pasta Salad is an exception, because the ratio of pasta to veggies is very balanced. So is the salad healthy? Hmmm… good question. ;P
Peaches and summer go together like Hansel and Gretel or Jack and Jill. They are made for each other! ;P My mom always gave us some peaches when we were going to the lake for a swim. So good. Nowadays, I prefer using them for baking. For this delicious Peach Cobbler, for example. With some ice cream on top or some vanilla custard on the side, the perfect summer dessert!
In summer, we prefer lighter meals. We live in the »attic« of our house and that apartment can get very hot. Those lighter meals are usually quick and easy to prepare and don’t weigh heavily on the stomach when trying to fall asleep when it’s still hot at night. In an apartment without air conditioning, this is very important! ;P Salads are pretty much the standard for us in summer. One of our favorite salads is our Couscous Salad with Tomatoes, Cucumber & Za’atar. Light, refreshing, healthy, and really delicious! The perfect easy dinner in summer!

A delicious dessert after a nice dinner is generally considered the perfect way to end a meal (hopefully not the evening). Well, we don’t just enjoy these delicious Chocolate Chia Pudding Cheesecake Trifles after dinner. We prepare these small sweet treats whenever we are in the mood for something delicious – day or night. ;P Chia is healthy, they say. So a little glass of his chia pudding here and there can’t be that bad, right? ;P

Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer. I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;) Read more...
