It’s time for something savory. No cake today. It’s pasta time! Although… I don’t think you’d say pasta in this case – I think that term is associated with Italian noodles – these are from Asia, so maybe “It’s noodle time!” :P Just kidding. Who cares how you call it – these Udon Noodles with beef are delicious and that’s all that counts! Am I right?! ;)
Eating healthy is somehow easier in summer – fresh fruits and veggies are smiling at you from every supermarket, the variety is much bigger than in winter. When it’s warm outside, you don’t want to eat anything really unhealthy anyway that weighs heavily on your stomach. In winter, everything looks different. Loads of sweets and greasy food is served all the time because you have to be ready for the cold season ;) How about a tasty dish that lies right between “healthy” and “feel good”? these delicious Oven Veggies with Lentils, Pesto & Eggs, for example? How about that?
Happy World Vegetarian Day! Today is the International Day for Vegetarian Food. “A day to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism” ;) Anyway. To celebrate this special day I made a delicious vegetarian dish. You might expect something baked here since this is mainly a baking blog… but no. Today I made something delicious you can enjoy for dinner (or lunch – whatever you prefer): Mushroom Bourguignon with Polenta! Soulfood without any kind of meat ;)
This blog is lacking recipes with fish I’d say. Probably not a big surprise for most of you since this blog is all about baking and sweet stuff normally. I got exactly two recipes with fish on the blog so far: a delicious Quiche with Smoked Salmon and Green Asparagus and Smørrebrød with Herring Salad. COVID has not only turned the world upside down, it also changed a lot of things here on the blog – that’s why you get a new “fishy” recipe today: delicious Salmon with Roasted Peppers & Quinoa Salad. My personal dream come true ;P
Today is “National Potato Day” in the US. Yay, right?! This might not really affect us here in Germany, but I think it can’t hurt if I do something else besides baking cakes and cupcakes from once in a while. It’s too warm anyway to bake a cake and try to frost it with buttercream right now. Let’s do something savory for a change. Baked Sweet Potatoes with Chickpeas, Spinach, and Tahini Sauce… sounds good, right? ;)
Did you know that falafel doesn’t have to be made with chickpeas alone? Did you even know that falafel is usually made with chickpeas? If not, then you know it now ;P Well… today these delicious small balls are made with a mix of sweet potatoes and chickpeas – fried to crunchy perfection but not dry inside. Ready to eat with some hummus and tomato salad – or if you prefer them in a sandwich you can do that too. Either way a delicious meal!
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
