Around Christmas, there is always a party or gathering to attend to and, of course, many times you want to bring a small gift if you are invited by friends or relatives to say thank you. In my case, I like to bring something homemade instead of a bottle of wine or something else from a store. Around Christmas there is so much you can bring – homemade Christmas Stollen, Christmas cookies, or, for example, this Hazelnut Nougat Chocolate Candy. It’s easy to prepare and makes a nice gift I think ;)
Rugelach never used to be on our family’s Christmas baking list. At least when I was a kid. We baked a lot of Christmas cookies but normally only the typical classics from the south – Cinnamon Stars, Vanilla Crescents or Spitzbuben Looking back, I have to say we should have looked beyond the cookie plate a little earlier ;P Rugelach are very easy to prepare and can be customized easily with different types of fillings. These here, for example, have a simple hazelnut filling. Very delicious!
A few years ago, hummus found its way from specialty stores into our “regular” supermarkets. I’m not really surprised this happened – this dip is super tasty and also very versatile. Nowadays you can find all kinds of hummus in stores. The classic hummus with chickpeas and tahini has got some competition. Here, for example, from hummus made with red beets. That does not look only really good, it also tastes extremely delicious ;)
Happy Cookie Friday! Today I got something delicious for you. Once again, because it’s Friday ;) As soon as oatmeal is involved in the process of making cookies, these little sweet treats automatically turn out super good I think. So are these Oatmeal Hazelnut Chocolate Chip Cookies (very long name, I know).
My bakes for Easter sometimes get out of control. If you have a lot of people around for an extensive breakfast or brunch, you need something good-looking and sweet… and I am not talking about me ;P I mean cake. A nice and big Easter cake like this Hazelnut Eierlikör Layer Cake with Amicelli. Big, beautiful, and a carb disaster… I love it! ;)
The “12 Days of Christmas Cookies” continues – who would have thought of that seeing these Classic Christmas Hazelnut Macaroons, right? ;) One of my favorite Christmas cookie bakes because I looooove me some hazelnuts. They should be on every baking list for Christmas… right next to Vanilla Crescents and Cinnamon Stars. Just saying ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
