Lebkuchen (aka. Gingerbread) is an absolute classic for Advent and Christmas. The best-known example in this category is probably Elisenlebkuchen. Delicious Lebkuchen that is made without flour. These Mini Elisenlebkuchen (from Nuremberg) are very popular here in our home because they are so small and a great snack in between meals – I know you shouldn’t snack too much but who cares around Christmas ;)
A coffee date without a coffee cake? Impossible, right?! When I meet with friends or family for a coffee I always need something to snack along with the coffee. It does not matter if we meet somewhere outside or at home – snacks are necessary. In a coffee shop, you can normally buy something. If I have someone over I feel obligated to serve something homemade. Not a problem with this Hazelnut & Almond Streusel Coffee Cake. So easy to prepare and really delicious! You guests will love it!
If you’re a fan of Biscoff cookies – this one is for you: Hazelnut Biscoff Chocolate Chip Cookies! Monster cookies that will make every cookie monster very happy ;) Big delicious cookies with great hazelnut, caramel, and chocolate flavors. Sounds like a delicious combination, doesn’t it?! These cookies may not be the healthiest cookies or low in calories, but sometimes that’s ok. You can always indulge yourself if you do not overdo it ;P
Easter without a cake is like a birthday without a celebration. You could do both, but I guess it would be strange for some people ;) Luckily, I got the perfect cake for Easter: a delicious German Hazelnut Eierlikör (Advocaat) Layer Cake. If you are a fan of advocaat this might be the perfect cake for you. I know not everyone likes this type of booze – some consider it to be a »grandma« liquor… but I kind of like it. At least for baking ;P
Carnival is celebrated in many countries around the globe – the hotspot for this event is undoubtedly Europe, where carnival has a long tradition all over the continent. Each country has its own specific customs and traditions, which can vary from town to town even. In addition to that you can get food/baked goods that are connected to carnival celebrations. In Italy, for example, Bomboloni with Hazelnut Chocolate Filling are a pretty popular snack for the carnival season. I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
