Cheesecakes are very popular in Germany. I guess that’s pretty much everywhere in the world the same ;P In contrast to cheesecakes from around the world, German cheesecakes are often made with Quark. An ingredient you won’t find everywhere. I hope you can get hold of Quark to be able to bake this delicious German Apple Cheesecake (Quark Apfelkuchen). Fingers crossed!
Quarkbällchen aka. Quark balls are a sweet snack you can find at pretty much every German Christmas market (or similar events). These small deep-fried dough balls are very popular with young and old alike. No wonder – pretty much everything you deep-fry and roll in sugar afterward tastes delicious. It’s not my fault. It’s a fact ;P If you want to make Simple Quarkbällchen at home, just like the ones from the markets, you don’t need a big deep fryer. A simple small pot/saucepan will do the job just as well…
This cheesecake without a bottom (saying that, the Minions from ‘Despicable Me’ come into my mind :P ) is a recipe from my mom I made for the first time when I was a teenager. This one is definitely no real beauty, but as always in life – it’s about the inner beauty! ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
