Summer is (almost) here and this means, of course, it’s bbq season once again. Time to heat up the grill and “annoy” the neighbors with some delicious smells ;P Besides all the meat and sausages for your bbq you also need side dishes to feed the masses. Potato salad is a popular salad and side dish here in Germany when it comes to grilling. Today’s potato salad is an updated version of the classic salad: Crispy Smashed Potato Salad with Bacon and Tzatziki. Sounds good, right?
Mexican and tex-mex dishes are very popular around here for some time already. Not surprised – the food from this corner of the world is really delicious! No matter if it’s burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc. …it’s all extremely tasty, but often quite some work to do in the kitchen if you want to prepare one of these dishes. These Tex-Mex Chicken Club Sandwiches are quick and easy to prepare – you could easily assemble them during your next lunch break and then eat them whenever you feel hungry ;)
It‘s time for another „Bake Together – The Baking Surprise“ with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte! This one here should have been our „November Bake Together“ but we thought we move the date to the beginning of December. First of all, because of the theme – which is „favorite food from the Christmas market“ and second of all, because we normally do not bake anything at the end of December between Christmas and New Year. So postponing several days to start In December seemed logical ;) Well. Anyway. It’s all about Christmas markets today and that’s why I made a typical bake called „Handbrot mit Käse und Speck“ aka. Filled bread with bacon and cheese ;)
Happy 2019! I hope you all had a good start into the new year! Mine started pretty quietly. I am still fighting a cold and did not “party hard” this year ;) Some nice food and a little “Thor” movie marathon, that was all. Hammer time! :P Well… to start the new year right, I suggest we start with a nice breakfast: Breakfast Bowls with Bacon & Eggs. So good!
Give me a nice sandwich and I am happy! That can be in the morning, for lunch or dinner – doesn’t matter. I like them all the time. Especially this Club Sandwich here. It is sooo good! And the best thing – it’s done in no time! If you are too lazy to cook dinner in the evening, this is the right thing for you to do and save a lot of time ;)
I am pretty sure you all heard of scones or even made them already, right? Scones are one of those typical British bakes you get with your tea. Normally served with clotted cream and jam. Delicious treat! For these scones with cheddar and bacon, I recommend something else: sour cream with herbs or just some salted butter. Maybe a beer. Jam would be weird… but who knows. I bet some folks would like that too ;))
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
