For many people, fall is primarily the season for everything apple. It makes sense because that’s the time when apples are harvested. Clever storage, however, makes it possible that apples are available all year round. Many apple varieties stay fresh for 9 months, some even for 12 months, if stored correctly. That means delicious apple pies and tarts, like this great Normandy Apple Tart, are available 365 days a year. Yay! ;)
There is so much you can do with rhubarb. First and foremost, of course, sweet cakes and desserts. But also savory dishes can be “improved” with rhubarb ;) The recipe today is definitely something sweet. A classic Rhubarb Tart with a generous meringue topping. I would’ve loooved to make this recipe sugar-free so I can eat it without any remorse, but making a meringue sugar-free and then flambeé it… not a good idea. So this one here is for my sugar-loving friends out there. Like most of you out there I assume ;P
Plums are everywhere in autumn. Unfortunately, the season is slowly coming to an end… so in case you still find some small colorful plums, you should get them and definitely make something with them. This delicious Mixed Plum Galette, for example ;) It’s super easy to prepare and ready in no time. With some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream… a dessert dream come true ;P
Rhubarb has been one of my favorites for ages when it comes to baking. These red and green stalks are just great for all kinds of bakes. The flavor of rhubarb isn’t necessarily something everybody likes, but I really love this sweet and sour combination. With this little “Best of Rhubarb” list I would like to show you all the things you can do with this veggie – besides a simple rhubarb compote and rhubarb cakes there is a lot more deliciousness waiting for you! ;)
Today your tongue will experience quite a lot – something sweet, salty, and loads of chocolate. A little taste explosion. As soon as salted caramel is involved in a dish it is going to be really good. Unfortunately ;) This Oreo Salted Caramel Chocolate Tart has quite a bit caramel on top so you know what’s going on… Get ready for the big bang :P
I got nothin’ sweet today. I am sorry if you expected a sweet bake or dessert ;) I can offer you a nice savory tart with zucchini, onions, chorizo and some delicious cheese instead. Something to warm you up when the weather is getting colder and nasty(er) – something nice to serve to your guests and make them happy… what do you think?
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
