This is going to be the last bake with rhubarb for this year – the season is over. Can you see the tears running down my face? Probably not since you are staring at a computer screen :P But there are… well at least one tiny one in the corner of my eye :.(
I know – rhubarb again. Some of you might be bored already, but I can’t help it – I love that stuff! And as long as it is available, I have to do something with it! And you have to look at it :P BUT – season is almost over, so this might be the last one for this year – not sure though :P
I fell in love with rhubarb many years ago and it is still going on… I think I should make a song out of that ;) Or better someone who can actually sing. Definitely not me! Well… rhubarb was not my “first love” but definitely one of the longer-lasting ones. If you try this Rhubarb Raspberry Meringue Cake you will know why ;) So good!
This year is my rhubarb year it seems ;) I made already a lot with rhubarb and still having loads of ideas what to do next with it… until the season ends. These Rhubarb Vanilla Scones are the latest “rhubarb creation” I got for you. Scones came pretty late into my life. A former colleague from Ireland brought them one day to work, regular ones with clotted cream and marmalade – since that moment I’m hooked on those little fellas ;)
Once the rhubarb season has started, there is no way of stopping it! Week after week the red and green stalks end up in my shopping basket – I just can’t stop buying it. There are so many delicious things you can do with these veggies – a simple compote, galettes, and cakes… or delicious Rhubarb Streusel Muffins like these ones here ;)
There is sooooo much you can do with rhubarb – jam, compote, juice (love it) or make a delicious cake with it! ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
