Christmas and marzipan are one and the same for me. Well, not really, of course, but one is actually not possible without the other. Throughout the year I am not the slightest interested in marzipan – around Christmas it suddenly makes sense ;P This means this Easy Marzipan Streusel Coffee Cake is perfect for the holiday season. If you are a fan of marzipan, you can make it year-round, of course. Not gonna keep you from baking something delicious ;P
Christmas season finally arrived! Halloween is in the past, Thanksgiving is history and the pumpkin season is officially over (at least for me). To make sure you have enough ideas and recipes for upcoming Christmas baking sessions I am starting a little Christmas Cookies event today called “12 Days of Christmas Cookies”. This means there will be a lot of fresh cookie recipes coming up until Christmas. Delicious treats to fill your cookie jars – if your family and friends are as greedy as mine, you probably have to bake a lot until Christmas, so these recipes will help you a lot probably ;) Let’s start with a Christmas cookie classic: Frankfurter Bethmännchen – sweet little bites that everyone loves.
Marzipan and Christmas belong together like peanut butter and jelly. At least for me. Ok, you can eat marzipan actually all year round, but around Christmas, it makes sense the most for me ;) It’s basically everywhere you look right now. Little (fake) marzipan fruits, confectionery, cakes, and pastries – it’s being used everywhere right now. Here as well in these delicious Espresso Marzipan Chocolate Cookies… that was quite obvious, right?! ;)
Over the past couple of years (since I am writing this blog and publishing recipes) it often happened that friends gave me little gifts from their travels abroad. Little sweet treats and baked stuff from all over the world. You could think “Oh how nice – they wanted to show what cool stuff they have in other countries and give you a nice gift”. Well… it’s actually more like “Hey I got this XX from XY and it tastes so nice. You should try. Maybe that’s something for your blog since you like to bake and do such stuff”. Sure ;) What should I do with the leftovers? Oh, I should give them to you at the end? Of course! :P Well… here you got the reason why I have some Pignoli from Italy for you today.
Have you already decided what to cook and bake for Christmas this year? Are you more into classic dishes or can it be modern and “experimental? We haven’t decided on the main courses yet this year, but the dessert has been chosen already: Baked Apples with Marzipan will be served on one of the Christmas holiday days ;)
Have you ever heard of Marzipan Almond Crescents? I mean the name says it all, but have you tried something like that? It’s awesome delicious! Really. If you had one, you want them all. That’s the reason, why I am making them not very often. Too dangerous :P
Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
