It’s finally the season for figs again. Yay! I love these purple little fellas and I am more than happy that you can get figs quite cheap right now. I know not everyone loves figs as much as I do, but if you ended up here you are probably a fan too and will like these Honey Fig Cheesecake Bars. They are delicious! ;)
I don’t know how you feel about figs, but I loooove them! As soon as they are in season here and available fresh in the stores, I buy them constantly. They go well as a snack, along with some cheese for dinner, on your oats or porridge in the morning… basically with everything anytime ;) It seems this year those purple little fellas were on sale all the time. So buying a lot of them was quite obvious and baking with them too! But all things must come to an end and so is fig season – so this will be my last recipe for this year: Olive Oil Cake with Figs! Mmmm…!
It’s Cookie Friday and I got some – let’s say – non-traditional cookies today. Well… that is probably not the right way to phrase it. These Fig Rolls (maybe not with the added toffee) have a long tradition, of course, but they are traditionally not called cookies I guess. More like little cakes. But who cakes. I call them cookies now, so they can make an appearance here for Cookie Friday ;)
September is almost over already… time flies by so fast. Seems like Christmas is happening next week and Halloween somewhere in between ;P Just kidding! End of the month means Bake Together – The Baking Surprise with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte. Our monthly baking event brings us together even though we bake hundreds of miles apart from each other. We decide on one topic, each of us bakes something and we surprise each other with the result. September is the Season for figs so we decided to make that our topic. As you can see on the picture already and with the headline – I made a delicious Honey Fig Fault Line Cake today…
If there was a certain “type” of cake that is popular in our household, then I would say it’s polenta cake. No cheesecake, no cupcakes – nope – it’s polenta cake! If you ever made a cake like that, you probably understand why ;))
Several weeks ago I had massive problems finding fresh figs for a recipe – now they are everywhere! Yay! I love those little fellas so much! :)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
