You can find an almost endless amount of baking mixes for cakes in supermarkets. To be honest, I always ask myself why would you buy something like that? Baking is not that complicated and a simple loaf cake like this German Eierlikör Cake is so easy to prepare – a boxed version cannot be less complicated than this one here. Right?! ;P
Easter without a cake – not possible in many families. If you get together for an Easter brunch or simply for a coffee date during the long Easter weekend you need cake. Right?! It’s essential for the whole shablam. This year I am probably baking again this delicious German Eierlikör Custard Streusel Cake. We’ve been baking this cake for many years already but the recipe never made it onto the blog… until now ;P
Easter without a cake is like a birthday without a celebration. You could do both, but I guess it would be strange for some people ;) Luckily, I got the perfect cake for Easter: a delicious German Hazelnut Eierlikör (Advocaat) Layer Cake. If you are a fan of advocaat this might be the perfect cake for you. I know not everyone likes this type of booze – some consider it to be a »grandma« liquor… but I kind of like it. At least for baking ;P
My bakes for Easter sometimes get out of control. If you have a lot of people around for an extensive breakfast or brunch, you need something good-looking and sweet… and I am not talking about me ;P I mean cake. A nice and big Easter cake like this Hazelnut Eierlikör Layer Cake with Amicelli. Big, beautiful, and a carb disaster… I love it! ;)
The month is almost over again – that means it’s time for another “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise” with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte. This time we’ve picked a very special topic: choux pastry aka. pâte à choux! One of my “mortal enemies” you could say. I made it quite often already, but somehow choux pastry and I will never be friends I guess ;) Well… I hope you can’t tell right away looking at this delicious Mousse au Chocolate Cream Puff Cake ;P
I am a huge fan of Eierlikör… that delicious yellow liquor made with rum and eggs. It is not that common outside of Germany and its neighboring countries I think. The U.S. has something that could be considered “similar” but it is actually not – eggnog ;) Even though Eierlikör and eggnog are from two different worlds, you can use both in the same way in bakes. Because I like it so much, I made a little list with my favorite recipes.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
