It’s time for another German Classic – if you never heard of it you missed out on something delicious: a Frankfurt Crown Cake aka. Frankfurter Kranz. This popular cake can be found in bakeries all over Germany – not only in Frankfurt as the name might let you think. The cake dates back to the 18th century when the German Emperor was crowned in Frankfurt. A cake with some history ;)
Once again… it’s “Bake Together” time! Every last Sunday of the month Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte and I are doing our little baking event called “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise” and this months topic can be described as “let’s do something with strawberries and maybe pudding?!” – yeah! ;) Well… good choice! So today I got a new recipe for you with strawberries and pudding aka. Danish with Vanilla Custard and Strawberries. So good!
It is rhubarb season here in Germany! Thank God! The red and green stalks are back in town! Yeah! Time to bake many nice things… rhubarb muffins, bread and of course cake! Most of all cake! Every cake is more delicious if you add rhubarb. Really ;) Best example is this delicious Rhubarb Strawberry Pudding Streusel Cake! So yummy!
Today’s recipe is a German classic – Donauwelle or also known as Snow White Cake. Have you heard of it or maybe made it already? I like it a lot, but opinions about are very different. Too old-school, lame… some of the critics ;) I don’t think it’s lame at all! Old-school maybe, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing…
A month passed by already since Andrea and I made our last “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise”. Fascinating how time flies. Especially in summer. Seems those get shorter every year :P Anyway. The month passed and it’s time for a new topic – you know the drill. This time we agreed on making “a tart with fruits or something like that”. Not very specific :P I guess this time we won’t have very similar recipes. Well… I made a gluten-free Coconut Pudding Tart with Fruits and Berries. Delicious!
Today’s “Bake together – The Baking Surprise” with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte is a bit different. First of all, it’s not the end of the month (I hope I did not confuse you) and second, there are much more participants than usual! It’s a “Super Bake Together” and the topic is: blueberries! Some of you might know already why it’s blueberries ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
