The month of June is coming to an end… time for another “Bake Together” with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte. We already had several nice summer days here in Germany so it’s time to heat up the grill and get the next bbq party going on. Not without a delicious Focaccia with Tomatoes, Garlic, and Thyme. The perfect companion for everything grilled. No summer party is perfect without it… at least in my opinion ;)
Sometimes you just don’t feel like standing in the kitchen for a long time and cooking an elaborate dinner. I write “sometimes”, but actually mean “almost always” ;P After a long day in the kitchen I often just do not feel like spending even more time at the stove to prepare a whole dinner. In those moments, simple melts are a great solution. Chickpeas and tomatoes end up on a piece of bread, with some cheese on top – that’s all you need. Perfect for a lazy person like me ;P
Summer is the time of year when it’s normally a bit warmer… even here in Germany ;P If your apartment is right under the roof it’s always a good idea to serve something “light” on those warmer days. Of course, the first thing that comes to my mind, in this case, is a simple salad. For example, a delicious Italian Bread Salad aka. Panzanella with tomatoes, cucumber, and mozzarella. Perfect if you do not want to spend too much time in a hot kitchen… like me ;P
Dinner does not have to be complicated. We love a quick and easy dinner… for example, made with gnocchi. For that reason, we normally have a package of pre-made gnocchi from the store in the fridge. You can do a lot with these potato dumplings and in most cases, the preparation is done in no time! Same for this delicious Easy Chorizo Gnocchi Pan here. Spain meets Italy and everyone is happy about it ;)
Working with leftover food is an essential part of food preparation when you want to save some money and maybe do something good for the environment. Just throwing stuff away the next day because you do not want to eat the same thing twice is stupid (sorry if I say that so bluntly). You can always change things up and make something new with what you had the day before. The best example here – this One-Pot Orzo with leftover Roasted Chicken. An easy recipe that is ready in no time and absolutely delicious!
I like me a good salad. Especially in summer when it’s warm outside. The time of year when you want to spend as little time as possible in the (warm) kitchen ;) Isn’t it much better to spend the time outside on the terrace or in the garden? You can prepare your dinner outside as well… on a grill, for example. Who would have thought it ;P For this simple Italian Pasta Salad you have to plan a little kitchen time though because – unless you can cook some pasta on your grill. Some of these big boys can do that, right? ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
