Onion quiches are quite popular in Southern Germany and Alsace. We already have a few recipes for them on our blog. Normally, you would make a quiche or cake like that with a shortcrust pastry or some yeast dough – this one here is a bit different. The base for this Smashed Potato Crust Onion Quiche are potatoes. The name probably gave it a way already. ;P
A whole month has passed by already… so quick! What does this mean? Well, a new recipe for “Bake together – The Baking Surprise” is coming up. It’s actually happening right now. You are already reading about it ;P This month Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte and myself decided to do something NOT sweet for a change. This time it’s all about asparagus!
That’s why you can find the recipe for a delicious quiche with white and green asparagus, potatoes and ham here. Plus some homemade sauce hollandaise you should not miss! If you are not drooling yet, there is something wrong with your taste buds for sure ;P
What about a nice quiche or tart for dinner? Sounds good, right? Better than order a pizza or take out from the asian restaurant around the corner :P
I can hear somebody saying in the back “…but I get my food much faster with them!” Well – not really. At least not all the time ;) My pizza service or the sushi restaurant sometimes need more than an hour to deliver…. so?! Let’s make a delicious tart with fennel and coconut. If you do some preparations ahead of time, this one is done even faster…
If you have someone at home that does not like fish, you are doomed :P Well not really doomed, but eating fish becomes something very rare and special. So this is my first post with fish – just wanted to make that clear :P
I have to be honest with you – as a kid I was not a big fan of goat cheese. Nope – just did not work for me.
Guess everybody has one or more dishes, vegetables or foods in general he/she did not like as a kid. It often changes over the years – sometimes not ;) There are not many things I do not eat, but a good example are brussels sprouts in my case – I hated them as a kid from the bottom of my heart. Really. My mom forced me to eat at least one every time she made them. Unfortunately she liked them a lot and made them often – felt like every second day to me… ;) Well – today I love them too! I could eat them every second day! Really ;)
Do you like cheese? Some do, some don’t and some can’t (sorry for those people)!
If you don’t like cheese, you should better skip this and try some other recipe (how did you end up here anyways???). Today’s little cheese lesson is about Reblochon [ʁə.blɔ.ʃɔ̃] de Savoie – a soft cheese from the French Alps – mais bien sûr!
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
