If you want to serve something special for breakfast or a brunch, a sweet casserole like this Franzbrötchen Apple Casserole aka. Ofenschlupfer is always a good idea – especially if you want to feed a lot of people. ;) We normally have that »problem« on public holidays. Relatives invite themselves, and you got to feed a few extra mouths. I mean – you can spoil loved family members with delicious food! ;P
You can do a lot with pumpkins, right?! In Germany, we almost only use them for soup or combined with other veggies roasted in the oven. Americans, on the other hand, use pumpkins for so many more recipes, I have the feeling. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, or these Pumpkin Snickerdoodles, for example – there are so many sweet recipes you can do with these big orange fellas. We have not embraced all the delicious sweet stuff you can create with pumpkins here in Germany… it’s a bummer ;P
Franzbrötchen are known throughout Germany, although they are actually a specialty from Northern Germany. Super tasty pastries I learned to love when I was living in Hamburg. For some time now, there is also delicious ice cream made with it… Franzbrötchen Ice Cream. A well-known German TV chef made this type of ice cream popular ;) You could call my version here a copycat… or simply an alternative if the other ice cream isn’t available in the supermarket ;P
I am a »less is more« kind of person. More or less ;) I prefer, for example, less stuff lying around at home. I also prefer doing less sports and less work (if possible) ;P But sometimes more is more – even for me. When it comes to cookies, I like the big ones as much as the small ones. Like these Crumbl-y Churro Cookies – they are a lot »more«. They are bigger and bulkier than other cookies… and I like them a lot!
When I think of typical American cookies, the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, a classic chocolate chip cookie. Right after that, however, Classic Snickerdoodles are probably the second most popular cookies out there. Delicious cookies with a great cinnamon flavor. Not only for Christmas an absolute treat… I can chow down on these yummy Snickerdoodles all year round. They are always a delicious sweet treat!
I’m a big fan of cheesecakes – everyone around me knows that. Don’t really care if the cheesecake was baked or, as in this case, just had to chill in the fridge for a while. All great! I have to admit, though, that a No-Bake Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake like this one here does have some advantages… especially when you have various other things on your to-do list and can’t focus your attention on just one thing. When baking for small and/or large festivities there is always a lot to do – so not having to worry about a showstopper like this one is always great ;P
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
