There are some recipes that you make over and over again. For us, these Chocolate Amarettini Cookies are one of these recipes. A family favorite! I don’t know how many times I’ve baked them… and not just around Christmas. These little almond-chocolaty balls are great all year round! Why limit yourself to just a few weeks of the year when everyone likes it? ;P
We are baking Christmas cookies pretty much every year, and some of them we do over and over again. The classics, you could say. We have a bunch of Christmas cookies we do constantly with the same old recipe that has been used for decades. But we also got cookies that are based on classics, but kind of »reinterpreted« from time to time. These Biscoff Thumbprint Cookies aka. Engelsaugen, for example. They are based on a classic recipe for Engelsaugen with jam filling, but here the filing is delicious Biscoff spread. So good!
Christmas and Christmas cookies go together like a Christmas tree and the presents underneath. One would only be half as good without the other ;) Baking the same Christmas cookies every year is a bit boring though. That’s why I love to adapt classic recipes from time to time. Like I did with these Chocolate Biscoff Speculoos Spitzbuben. Based on classic sandwich cookies with a jam filling these cookies here got a little update with chocolate and Biscoff spread. So good. ;)
There are so many Christmas cookie classics – sometimes it’s hard to decide what to bake during Advent ;) Luckily, I love to experiment when baking. Sometimes I turn a classic into something new. That’s what happened here with these Almond Marzipan Logs. They were originally Almond Marzipan Croissants. Now they are not anymore ;P
Advent is the time for Christmas cookies – it all starts on the first of December and ends whenever all the cookies are gone. If you bake a lot like me that can be in late January ;P Every family has their traditions, and everyone has their favorite Christmas cookies. The amount of cookies to choose from is pretty much endless. Today I’ve taken a traditional recipe for Spitzbuben and modified the cookies a little. You can call them Orange Funfetti Spitzbuben now. Not your traditional Christmas cookies I have to admit ;P
Christmas is the time for family. The time for presents. And the time for lots of food, right? Even though we love to try new dishes throughout the year – when it comes to the food during the Christmas season we tend to go back to the classics we have known since we were kids. All those traditional recipes Grandma liked to prepare or eat (when she was not in the mood for cooking or baking) ;P Even though Germany is not very big – the traditions vary quite a lot. This means – these 10 Traditional Christmas Recipes from Grandma might not be what everybody in Germany makes all the time… but they are definitely our favorites! ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
