Hey, what’s up folks?! ;) Still baking for Christmas or did you finish already? I mean Christmas cookies. If not – you know #CookieFriday turns into #ChristmasCookieFriday in December, so get ready for some nice cookies especially decorated for Christmas! It took a bit longer this time, so I had some time to listen to Christmas music and had one or maybe two mulled wines while working… exactly what you should do, when baking and decorating Gingerbread Christmas Cookies ;P
Christmas is the time for Christmas cookies. Obviously. We love Christmas cookies, but now and then we are craving for something more substantial. Delicious cupcakes, like these Candy Cane Chocolate Cupcakes, for example. Others might recommend something savory to balance out all the sweet stuff, but this is a baking blog for sweet treats. Guess what you get from us. ;P
What are your favorite Christmas Cookies? The classic ones? Here in Germany, the most common Christmas Cookies are probably Ausstecherle, Spitzbuben and Zimtsterne. Recipes for all of these Christmas Cookies can already be found on the blog, of course! This year, we decided to make a batch of new cookies: Orange Pecan Chocolate Cookies! They are really nice ones! They earned a spot on the »must bake list« for next Christmas and the ones in upcoming years!
What happens if you lock three adults into a kitchen with several bottles of liquor? Any ideas? Anyone? Well… they will come up with some delicious desserts of course! What did you think?! ;)
I wanted to do something with candy eyes for quite some time. I had some leftovers from my Halloween Monster Cookies and I did not want them to go bad. You know – an open bag of eyes does not stay fresh for too long… juuuust kidding ;) A friend of mine was asking for funny Christmas cookies, so I made these Double Chocolate Speculoos Reindeer Cookies. That’s all ;)

Is Christmas around the corner for you or still light years away? Here in Germany, you can buy Christmas cookies since late August already. We don’t have a “Thanksgiving season” between summer and Christmas ;P The first time I heard “Last Christmas” from Wham! this year happened quite some time ago… a sign for you to get the Christmas presents ready ;)
For me personally, Christmas season started beginning of October. I met with some blogger colleagues on an event in Hamburg called “Lidl-Backstube”. Christmas songs were playing constantly, mulled wine and loads of Christmas cookies like my Macadamia White Chocolate Kisses. From that point on all was about Santa and the jolly time of the year ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
