Apples are great for baking all year round even though their peak season is actually in fall and winter when all other fruits are less available in Supermarkets. Apples are available fresh all year round even from local farmers because they can be stored for quite some time. This means this delicious Apple Crumble Custard Cake can be done anytime you feel like it. The combination of apples, streusels and vanilla custard is great – the recipe shows how you can make this cake with ease ;)

Cakes with apples are great all year round. They are always “in season”, right? No matter if it’s summer or the deepest winter – I could eat them all the time! The reason for that is not only that apple cakes are always delicious. You can get apples all year round – I think that is an important factor that they are so popular everywhere 24/7 and 365 days a year ;P That’s also why I bake quite often with apples. No matter if it’s a simple Crumb Cake with Apples or a delicious Spiced Apple Bundt Cake like this one here. Serving apple cakes & pies is always a good option ;)
Christmas without baked apples as dessert is hard to imagine – at least here in Germany. They pop up everywhere around Christmas ;) I love the combination of apple and cinnamon and love to use that in other desserts and bakes as well. Something like this Baked Apple Cake (with sour cream), for example. Along with some mulled wine or hot apple cider… so good!
Apple cakes are in season right now. Fall is the time to bake them, right? It’s actually not very surprising – they are laying around everywhere waiting for you to do something with them ;P I got some from the farmer’s market and made this really simple and easy Apple Crumb Cake today. Done in no time and sooooooo good ;)
If you need a quick fix for a delicious dessert you should definitely make yourself a crumble. It’s so good and super easy to prepare. What kind of fruits or berries you use to make a crumble doesn’t matter – it will turn out great no matter what. This one here is made with a mixture of apples and cranberries. Delicious combination!
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
