If I ask someone here in Berlin if they know what »Kirschwähe« means, I will probably get the same looks like here… assuming you are not from southern Germany and know that name for a certain bake :P Well… it is the name for something delicious and only a small part of Germany uses this word. End of story… :P
During the strawberry season, we basically have fresh strawberries at home each day. Well, almost every day ;) On my way to work or back home I always pass by one of those little carts where they sell fresh strawberries from the fields. Normally at least one little strawberry basket ends up in my bag because everybody at home loves strawberries – even our French Bulldog Bruno! Well… this Strawberry Tart is definitely not for him. It’s just for us humans in the house :P
The end of the month is here… the money is gone and everyone is waiting for fresh money to appear on the bank account ;) Well.. even though this is an important topic, there is something much more important at the end of each month: Bake Together – The Baking Surprise with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte! Yay! ;) You know… that little baking thing where we choose a topic and surprise each other with the result. This month it’s all about apricots and I made a delicious galette with… apricots! And plums and nectarines ;)
I don’t know if you’ve experienced this kind of feeling… or better said urge ;) The urge for lemons, oranges and everything citrus when the weather is bad and when it’s cold outside. There are days where I think “I need vitamins immediately – is there a lemon somewhere so I can have a bite?!” ;) Well… fortunately, there are ways to avoid this kind of weird behavior. Just make this Tarte au Citron Meringuèe and all is fine! Let me show you how to make it (with a little help of my friend aka. the Retro Ribbon Red handheld mixer from Russell Hobbs).
It’s the end of the month again and you know what this means… It is time for another round of “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise”! Yay! I love this little monthly event with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte ;) This month we decided to bake something with oranges – and as you can see, I made this gorgeous and delicious orange tart with caramelized oranges and a tiny little hint of whipped cream :P So good!
A month passed by already since Andrea and I made our last “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise”. Fascinating how time flies. Especially in summer. Seems those get shorter every year :P Anyway. The month passed and it’s time for a new topic – you know the drill. This time we agreed on making “a tart with fruits or something like that”. Not very specific :P I guess this time we won’t have very similar recipes. Well… I made a gluten-free Coconut Pudding Tart with Fruits and Berries. Delicious!
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
