You probably have seen many kinds of chocolate chip cookies in your life. They are everywhere – every supermarket sells them, you get them in bakeries or at the coffee shop around the corner. Most of the time they look quite flat and (sorry to say that) boring ;) I wanted some cookies for this week’s Cookie Friday with some more volume so I decided to make my Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies a bit chunky (yet funky as Latrice Royale would say). Grab one! ;))
Have you already decided what to cook and bake for Christmas this year? Are you more into classic dishes or can it be modern and “experimental? We haven’t decided on the main courses yet this year, but the dessert has been chosen already: Baked Apples with Marzipan & Pecans will be served on one of the Christmas holiday days ;)
I’ve got some delicious veggie cake for you today! It does not look like a cake with vegetables? Well… might not look like one, but there are definitely veggies inside. Even though you can’t see or taste them. The zucchini in there is in disguise :P Or did you see anything suspicious in this Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread? I don’t think so… ;P
Normally I try to use only ingredients for my bakes that can be easily purchased all over the world. At least that is my goal… Sometimes you need to order some ingredients for my recipes online, but I am really trying to not use fancy-schmancy stuff you can only get in certain countries. Today is different. Sorry about that. I used butterscotch chips für these Pecan Butterscotch Cookies (the name is giving it away already) you can hardly get here in Germany. Again – sorry ;) But I might have a little tip for you how to replace them if you can’t get hold of them. I am not that mean and showing you delicious cookies and then telling you that you will never be able to recreate them :P
Have you planned your Easter brunch or breakfast already? I am a huge fan of Easter and everything around it. The food, the Easter hunt, the decorations… Spring is coming and it’s slowly getting warmer each day, you have some days off of work to relax. What could be better?! Ok, you could add some gifts on top like you do on Christmas, but we are not greedy, so it’s fine as it is ;)
I don’t know if I told you about this already here – some might know I am living in Berlin… but I am originally from the South of Germany, Lake Constance, close to the border to Switzerland actually. While I was studying I was even living in Switzerland for some time, cause it was cheaper there than on the other side of the border in Germany ;)
Anyway – I am feeling really close to Switzerland and all the good chocolate and other stuff they have down there. Especially one thing called “Nussstängeli” ;)
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
