I am soooo sick of winter right now! The wet and cold weather is getting into my bones I think – and with these metusalem-old bones, you have to be careful. Also… no sun in Berlin. It is hidden behind clouds for weeks already. That is literally screaming for some “comfort food”! Something to make you fat and happy. One of my favorite dishes from home in this category is definitely “Schupfnudeln mit Sauerkraut” aka. Potato Noodles with Sauerkraut. Sounds weird for you? Well… ;P
There’s (almost) nothing better than a big pot of pasta with a delicious sauce for dinner (or lunch… I could eat it even for breakfast). I looove me some pasta since I was a little kid. I was always a big fan of spaghetti bolognese and this will probably never change ;) A large bowl of noodles with sauce and loads of grated cheese on top still makes me happy every time. In recent years, though, we more often switch from meat-based sauces to vegan alternatives like this version here with mushrooms and lentils. It’s equally delicious… if not even slightly better ;P
Today I got something delicious for you… but it’s not coming from my oven. Nothing sweet, no cake or anything like that today. Just delicious pasta with meatballs, mushrooms, and kale. A tasty dish we love in winter. A lot of great flavors come together in one dish. You should definitely try this one here ;)
Normally, there are no new recipes coming to this blog between Christmas and New Year… This year I decided to show you this delicious One Pot Jambalaya with Chicken and Chorizo. We made this the other day and it was so good I had to share it with you ;) There is nothing wrong with some easy peasy recipes after Christmas when you were cooking and baking for 3 days straight all kinds of fancy dinners, right? Just one pot instead of juggling with 5 pots at a time ;P
Today I got some »comfort food« for you – at least that’s what we would call it here. Assuming you like and eat meat. I got a delicious dish that is perfect for fall and winter: Hungarian Goulash! A dish I love since I was a kid. Preparing goulash (the stew, not the soup) takes some time – that’s why we normally make it only on a weekend. Watching a bubbling pot for several hours on a weeknight after work is just not manageable ;)
It is 2020 and everything is slightly different his year. For example, no Christmas markets in Germany right now. Due to COVID regulations and social distancing rules Christmas markets were not allowed to open in many cities this year. You can still find a booth for mulled wine here and there, but that is only a fraction of the usual Christmas frenzy here in Germany. It’s a bit sad. I don’t mind not being able to drink mulled wine or eat sugar-coated almonds on a Christmas market – that’s something I can’t drink and eat anyway anymore. But not being able to eat a hot dish of Grünkohl mit Pinkel (Kale with Smoked Knockwurst)… that’s a real bummer! Well… I guess that means I have to make it myself at home ;P
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
