Donuts are nice – you can’t deny that. Airy, fluffy, sweet, and greasy… the perfect combination for a sweet snack, right? If only making them at home could work without frying and those smells in the kitchen. For this reason, we don’t make delicious Boston Cream Donuts like these here not that often at home. Only for special occasions once in every blue moon. Or maybe I should get a proper deep-fryer you can seal off completely? ;)
Carnival is celebrated in many countries around the globe – the hotspot for this event is undoubtedly Europe, where carnival has a long tradition all over the continent. Each country has its own specific customs and traditions, which can vary from town to town even. In addition to that you can get food/baked goods that are connected to carnival celebrations. In Italy, for example, Bomboloni with Hazelnut Chocolate Filling are a pretty popular snack for the carnival season. The recipe at the end will give you all the instructions you need to prepare this deliciously sweet snack!
There are loads of events and holidays throughout the year where you need deep-fried sweet stuff. Carnival or New Year’s Eve, for example. There is no way around it. It doesn’t matter what you throw into the hot oil as long as the result is nice and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and it’s covered with sugar. I do not encourage people to drink alcohol, but if you eat greasy stuff like that you can drink more ;P Well… these Drop Donuts with Cherry Compote have not been made for those situations. They are just a delicious snack you can enjoy all year round any time of the day (with or without alcohol) ;P
I guess everyone likes donuts. There are only a few people not liking them, right? Of course only if they are done well ;P If those little fried thingies are unfluffy (means too dense/firm) and/or dripping with fat or drenched with a sugar glaze – I’m out. So I guess I like donuts but not all of them ;P I actually prefer homemade donuts. Admittedly, they’re a little time-consuming when you make them at home, but this way you’ll make sure that you always get super fresh and delicious donuts on your plate and into your belly. Just kidding! The final destination of donuts is, of course, not the belly, but the hips! ;P
Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
