Anyone who likes to bake bread knows it usually takes a little longer to prepare. Yeast or sourdough bread simply needs more time until it’s ready to go into an oven. If you have the patience – awesome! I’m not one of those people. I need things to move a little quicker. That’s why I really like soda bread. A simple Carrot Cake Soda Bread is in and out of the oven in no time at all. Perfect for impatient people (like me!) ;P
If you want to serve something special for breakfast or a brunch, a sweet casserole like this Franzbrötchen Apple Casserole aka. Ofenschlupfer is always a good idea – especially if you want to feed a lot of people. ;) We normally have that »problem« on public holidays. Relatives invite themselves, and you got to feed a few extra mouths. I mean – you can spoil loved family members with delicious food! ;P
Easter is the time for homemade stuff. All kinds of baked goods with yeast are popular around the world – an Easter brunch without would be wrong ;P For this reason, we always have brioche or something similar for Easter. This year, we took inspiration from a »neighboring« country (well almost) and baked a delicious (Streusel) Hot Cross Bun Wreath. Similar to our Easter bakes but still slightly different ;P
They may not be a standard for breakfast, but in my opinion, popovers are perfect for breakfast or brunch. Especially if there is a larger group at the table. These Easy Biscoff Popovers are the perfect sweet treat in between or the perfect end to a brunch. Easy to prepare and quick to decorate. Never work more than absolutely necessary in the kitchen ;P
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
