When it gets colder outside, stews are always a good idea. A simple and easy Potato Brussels Sprouts & Sausage Stew bubbling on the stove is always very welcome in our house. Even if the Brussels sprouts aren’t everyone’s favorite veggie, we love the combination with potatoes and sausages. It’s the perfect comfort food for us!

For us, a simple Chili con Carne is a dish that is usually prepared for parties – although it’s also a great meal for lunch or dinner. You just have to cook a big pot and then you can enjoy it for several days. Well… or serve make a large party crowd happy right after midnight, when everybody is hungry after all that singing and dancing. ;P
Do you like soup? We do, but to be honest, we prefer soups that have a lot of stuff added. A homemade potato soup, chicken soup or this Simple & Easy Hungarian Goulash Soup, for example. A delicious dish my family always loved to prepare when it’s colder outside. Give us a clear soup with just a noodle or two, and you will see only sad faces. ;P
Stews are not only delicious when it’s cold outside. A dish like this Stew with Lentils, Potatoes & Smokey Sausage tastes great all year round and is therefore something you can cook any day of the year. You might not need this as a warming dish in the height of summer, but if you are looking for something tasty, it does not matter if it’s freezing or hot outside. ;P

Autumn and winter are the seasons for everything cabbage, right?! Cabbage is a typical winter veggie, because that’s what we can grow in the colder regions. Well – these days you don’t have to limit yourself to cabbage and potatoes in winter, because pretty much everything else is also available in supermarkets all year round. So different from what our (great) grandparents experienced. Back then, cabbage was king! Even though not everyone’s a big fan, you can do a lot of delicious dishes and bakes with cabbage. For example, this simple Galette with Brussels Sprouts, Ricotta & Blue Cheese – so good! We love it, and it’s the perfect treat on a cold and rainy day! Really – extremely delicious!

After a long day at work, you don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen to prepare dinner, right?! Getting something quick on the table does not mean you have to call a delivery service and give them your hard-earned money. Make this German Schupfnudeln & Cabbage Skillet instead. It’s quick and easy to do and really delicious. The ingredients are affordable and everything should be ready within 30 minutes. Sounds good, right? ;)

Hi, my name is Marc. I'm a graphic designer. I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;) Read more...
