I love scones! They are easy to make and taste incredibly delicious. This is exactly why they end up in our oven so often – summer and winter alike. When it’s colder we prefer savory scones but in summer we definitely prefer scones with berries or fruits like these Strawberry Scones here. I mean – berries and fruits are available everywhere, so why not use them to bake delicious stuff, right?! ;)
In spring this year I bought a little raspberry bush for our terrace – hoping we could harvest so many raspberries so I could make maybe a cake or raspberry scones like these ones here… but well – this dream did not come true! Not at all. That’s why I had to get some from the farmers market for baking. So sad ;(
I am pretty sure you all heard of scones or even made them already, right? Scones are one of those typical British bakes you get with your tea. Normally served with clotted cream and jam. Delicious treat! For these scones with cheddar and bacon, I recommend something else: sour cream with herbs or just some salted butter. Maybe a beer. Jam would be weird… but who knows. I bet some folks would like that too ;))
Quick and easy?! Yes, I can do that too. Sometimes. Not often though ;)
I am not baking 3 layered chocolate cakes all the time. I also appreciate easy recipes that can be done quickly. For example, these Apple Pie Scones. The dough is prepared in no time, a bit of chillin’, a bit of bakin’ and then a bit eatin’. Or maybe a lot of eating. I can hardly stop when I eat the first one of the batch to check if it’s baked properly. ;))
These scones with a hot chocolate or tea, when it’s cold outside – hard to beat. Too bad they are all gone already, cause it just started snowing again outside :P
Once you make your fist scones, you’re hooked on them ;)
Why? Because they are so easy and fast to make and sooooo good! The might not be the prettiest baked goods, but who cares about that when you have something really delicious on your plate? ;) You can expect much more recipes for scones from me in the future. These here with rhubarb were also amazing. Queen Elisabeth II would be proud! For sure. Maybe I should bring her some when she is in town this week.
I love my job, but in between I love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. A lot of my friends and colleagues encourage me to bake - for a very simple reason: they get the leftovers - and it seems they like it most of the time ;)
