Delicious classic you know from the coffee house around the corner or your grandma: Marble Pound Cake with a thick chocolate glaze.

  • 1/2 cup (120g) butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 (230g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup (160ml) buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup (40g) cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) hot water

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10×5 inches (25x13cm) loaf pan or line with baking parchment. Set aside.
  2. Add the butter and sugar to a large bowl and mix until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one after another and mix well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix in. In a separate bowl mix the flour with baking powder, and salt. Add flour mix alternating with the buttermilk and mix until just combined – do not overmix. Set aside.
  3. Add the cocoa to a bowl and mix with the hot water until smooth. Add about 1/3 of the cake batter and mix until well combined. Add the cake batters with a spoon to the prepared loaf pan randomly to get a mixed cake. Use a knife or skewer and mix a bit more to get swirls and the marble effect. Place in the oven and bake for 45-60 minutes or until a skewer inserted to the center comes out clean. Take out of the oven and let cool down for about 10-15 minutes in the pan, then remove and let cool down completely on a wire rack.

  • Enjoy baking!
