Ingredients
Scale
- 4–6 candy bars (e.g. Snickers, Bounty, Mars)
- 3/4 cup (100g) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp. butter, melted and cooled
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- oil for deep frying
- confectioner’s sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Cut the candy bars in smaller pieces (e.g. the snickers in three pieces, bounty in two pieces etc.) and place in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
- Mix the flour with baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl. Mix the egg with the melted butter, vanilla extract and half of the milk. Add to the flour mixture and mix until all is well combined – add more milk, if the batter is too thick. The conistency should be like a thick pancake batter. Set aside.
- Add the oil to a small pot and heat up until it reaches a temperature of about 375°F (190°C). Insert a skewer into a piece of candy (try not to stick it in too deep, or you will have problems removing the skewer later) and dip it into the batter – it should be covered completely. Place in the hot oil and fry about a minute each side. Let drain on a piece of kitchen paper, dust with confectioner’s sugar and serve.
Notes
- Enjoy frying!
