  • 2 organic oranges or lemons
  • 1 1/2 cups (300g) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1 tbsp. orange liquor (optional)

  1. Wash the oranges/lemons with hot water and dry. Cut into slices (not too thin) and set aside.
  2. Add the sugar, water and orange liquor (optional) to a saucepan and bring to a boil. You should get a clear thick syrup. Reduce the heat and add the orange/lemon slices. Let simmer for about 1 hour – check from time to time and make sure the slices are covered with the syrup. Take off the heat, cover and let stand for 12-24 hours. Take the orange/lemon slices out of the syrup and let drain. Place on a baking sheet with baking parchment and let dry for one day in a warm place. If the slices are still not dry, place in the oven with 140˚F (60°C) and let dry for 2 hours (turn upside down after 1 hour).
  3. If the orange/lemon slices are dry, you can eat them as they are or use them for decoration. You can also dip them in melted chocolate (and let dry again) to get a sweet chocolate snack.

  • Enjoy baking!
